For the life of me I can't think of the word.

Propane bottles

ZackaryQuack · 12/02/2021 20:57

Tanks? The bit things in the garden?

ApolloandDaphne · 12/02/2021 20:57

We had gas in canisters in our previous house.

ZackaryQuack · 12/02/2021 20:57

Big not bit

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 12/02/2021 20:58

We had a propane tank massive thing on the side of the garage. It got filled 2 or 3 times a year.

natalienewname · 12/02/2021 20:58

We have two huge tanks of LPG hidden in our garden. Is that what you mean?

SendMeHome · 12/02/2021 20:59

Gas canisters? Or oil tanks? Some people have propane tanks...

KittyWithStripes · 12/02/2021 20:59

Er... it’s a tank. A gas tank.

StephenBelafonte · 12/02/2021 21:00

yeah the great big things that store lots of liquid gas, enough to last all winter - what are they called? Is it just oil tanks?

amgine · 12/02/2021 21:01

If you have Calor gas, it’s a Calor Tank

Alfaix · 12/02/2021 21:03

Bulk tank gas

StephenBelafonte · 12/02/2021 21:03

Thanks peeps lol. I guess they're just called oil tanks then. I had it in my head that they had a special name like a septic tank does.

Oil tanks are for kerosene

Gas is gas tank, or LPG tank or if you use calor to supply it a calor tank

No. Oil tanks hold oil. Gas tanks hold gas.

MrsAvocet · 12/02/2021 21:19

We live in an area without a gas supply and there are 2 main alternatives - oil or LPG. Oil tanks are usually big green plastic things and LPG cannisters tend to be more cylindrical (in our area at least.) Most people have oil near us.
They aren't just for "big houses" though. More or less everyone in our village has one or the other, however big or small the house. There are one or two that have more unusual heating systems like a biomass boiler or a ground or air source heat pump but the vast majority of houses have a tank of some kind to hold their heating fuel.

Pipped gas. I don't know why that made me giggle.
