Love maps, thanks for this brilliant thread.
Had a wall covered top to bottom in OS maps, also enjoy scouring old bookshops for vintage 1950’s driving maps.
Ordnance Survey were repurposing maps at one time and had lots of useful map merchandise, very exciting; clipboards, notebooks, table mats...
Anyone else addicted to the shop One Hundred Stars - lovely scarves and garments made with map themes...
Didn’t realise I had (ahem) acquired a number of RAF Flying OS maps, when I later thought I would drive following some very direct routes - I found my error - the purple lines were actually marking low electric pylons - for aircraft to avoid.
Enjoyed a spell working at a military base where they dealt with all the mapping - oh the joy, especially when someone found a very rare unopened box from WW2 - containing silk scarves with maps printed on them, for the pilots to navigate with, in the event that they were shot down.
Just lost a great friend last summer, he took pride in having every single OS map of the UK. I hope the person clearing his effects appreciated what they were discarding...
