Joggers for tall and very slim boys please

DS has classic autism (autism and low IQ) plus lots of other sensory issues. He is 8yo, slightly below average height but very, very slim. He can’t do up nd undo a tie on a waistband. He likes to wear joggers, but I am really really struggling to find ones that are long enough but also don’t fall down. Most slim kids at 8yo would be able to secure their joggers by doing the waist tie. But DS can’t do this, and me doing it for him would interfere with his independent toileting.

I’ve tried h&m, which seem a go to for slim children, but they’re way too wide on the waist - in h and m, he would need age 5 waist but age7 or 8 length.

All recommendations welcome.

Next do 'skinny fit' joggers which might be worth a try? My son will also only wear joggers and is tall and thin. He loves these, so much so that they are pretty much the only trousers he will wear apart from school ones!

M&s school joggers fit my very slim boy - they have a nice tight waist. Not sure about height though as he's average height.

WellTidy · 12/02/2021 09:47

I buy next skinny for my eldest, whose height and waist measurement are spot on for his age. So I know that they wouldn’t be good for my tiny-waisted youngest, unfortunately.

I will try m and s, thanks. If the waist is tight, they may stay put.

What about leggings with a big hoody? Skinny trousers are fashionable for boys now anyway and you would probably find the leggings slightly baggy anyway if he’s so skinny. Worth a try?

Or get some sports skins like in the photo?

He won’t wear a hoody to anything that tight, unfortunately - sensory issues. It’s joggers that I need.

M&S

Not much help until they reopen, but my stick insect 9 year old gets on well with primark joggers.

I would tie some 1cm wide elastic to the waist tie and pull it through. Adjust to fit your son then tie it. If the original waist tie won't go through attach the elastic to a big safety pin and work it through.

Not sure why they are in girls section but they are absolutely brilliant.
The only trousers that don’t fall off DS’s bum. They come in navy and black.

Following as my super slim almost 9yr old is the same - currently he’s wearing Tesco ones that I have to tighten the waistband on after toileting but like you said - doesn’t promote independence! Mines 130cm tall and 21kg - if that helps any suggestions

Lindex. Slim, good quality joggers for tall children.
