Going abroad

Not asking for any particular reason but has anyone never been abroad before and has no interest in doing so?

If you’ve never left your home country, why is going somewhere else so unappealing?

My Dad hasn't. He used to be in the Observer Corps and the flying he did there put him off ever getting in a plane again! I love going abroad but there are so many places in the UK I'd like to visit

Well, my parents barely left their county and certainly not the country until I moved abroad and they occasionally came to visit — they would certainly never have got passports otherwise. But I think that was both because they are very timid people who are terrified of the slightest novelty, and because in their view ‘abroad’ is a sun holiday package somewhere like Lanzarote (despite me taking them to other places when they visited me.)
