I'm getting fed up of checking my kids insta account but if I ban it altogether they will probably set one up anyway that I won't know about.
I have reported some content which insta says isn't against their guidelines even though it shows violence and sex but (from an 18 rated show)
I wish insta would clean it up!
I don't want my kid seeing this stuff but it seems I'm fighting an impossible battle (age 14)
Should I just give up and let them get on with it? I read most kids have seen porn by age 14 so maybe I should just let it happen

Is this adverts/trailers or is it other profiles sharing the sexual or violent scenes? Sorry I don't do Insta so not even sure if they do adverts!

It's clips of TV and films that are 18 rated.

I don't know but just giving this a bump

My guess is that Instagram don't police the links people put in so 18 content can go on?

MrsMercedes · 11/02/2021 10:32

Was Instagram ever aimed at kids?

Stompythedinosaur · 11/02/2021 12:21

Instagram isn't aimed at children, so I don't really think they are being unreasonable.

I think that, as a parent, you do the work with your own dc to encourage positive online habits. You are fighting a loosing battle to sanitise the Internet beyond forums aimed at dc.

It also depends a bit what it is. Personally I don't feel like a 14yo will be hugely damaged by seeing a willy or vagina, but I'd be appalled at representations of sexual violence as porn.

If you're looking for an alternative social media network for kids and teens check out joinsocialxp.com -

I don't see things like that so it's who your kids are following and what they search for.
