Have I messed up starting Levest in the middle of my cycle?

Can anyone tell me if I've messed up by starting Levest on a random day in my cycle and not on the first day of my period?

I didn't read the instructions properly because I thought I remembered correctly from when I last took a combined pill about 7.5 years ago. Turns out I didn't remember correctly. I thought you could just start taking it whenever and after 7 days you were protected so I started a pack Monday. Now I've realised I shouldn't have.

Do I continue this pack and it'll get me into some sort of routine or stop and wait for my period and then start a fresh pack?

I'd take the whole pack now I'd started, but not expect it to provide me contraceptive protection. I've started pill packets mid-cycle just to delay my period before, but I've never relied on it in that context to stop me getting pregnant.
