How many sausages per person with bangers and mash? Are we a greedy family?

Bangers and mash for dinner tonight (I'm having soup because I'm trying to lose weight) and I was wondering what a normal portion looks like to other people? DH and my 16 and 18yo sons will eat at least 4 sausages each with a big pile of mash/peas/gravy. They would eat more sausages if there were more available! I remember when I was a child we were given 2 sausages each, but then I remember being very hungry as a child and meals often weren't generous enough (cup a soup and two slices of dry bread as dinner for a 9yo, for example).

So - how many sausages?

"Yes i hoped she was joking about eating a whole entire forkful of mash too, people like this really should do more to support the nhs properly rather than clapping their bingo wings on their specially reinforced doorsteps"

Joke's on you, I'm too fat to get off the couch to even stand on my reinforced doorstep. Luckily the sound of my gunt slapping off my gargantuan thighs as I flailed around helplessly was loud enough for the whole street to hear.

I love these threads. It is always a mix between the people who will say that they have 1 sausage between a family of four and those who will say they eat 10 each Grin

Depends on the sausages really. The really meaty ones 2, the less meaty ones 3. With lots of onion gravy and celeriac/potato mash and a bit of wholegrain mustard mixed in with the mas. Yum!

With the 'masses of veggies' and 'I'm a veg fanatic' and 'I love veg' apologists thrown in.

My favourite pass-agg MN food comment was on a recent thread about pasta/garlic bread and whether it was normal to have both (it is)

One woman posted "we don't double-carb" which made me snigger for days.

Depends

a) the size of the sausages (oo-er Missus)
b) the TYPE of the sausage

The latter is important. I bought a Torunksa sausage at the Polish Shop, and they are so rich (even though they aren't that big) that I was full after just one. I often find that the higher quality the banger, the less that are needed.

So wish there was a 'like' button on here! @MadameButterface 😅😅😅

DD1, DD2 and me have 3/3/2 of Richmond vegan sausages and DS1 & DS2 have 3 each of the Heck 97% meat fat sausages . It just worked out like that mainly because of the packet size, the vegan ones are in packs of 8 and the Heck ones come in 6s

Me and DS 17, have 2 sausages each, mash (the equivalent of a baked potato size) and a generous portion of either beans or veg . If there will only be 1 or 2 sausages left in the pack I will up sausages to 3
