Measles rash from MMR? Mine had it.

Theotherrudolph · 10/02/2021 18:13

Just seen not eaten since Friday!! You need medical help.

NerrSnerr · 10/02/2021 18:14

On this page it says the common side effects of the MMR is a rash

dementedpixie · 10/02/2021 18:15

A rash can be a side effect of the measles part of the mmr

Mine had a rash after the first MMR jab. Could be the measles or rubella part.

hallomother · 10/02/2021 18:15

We were told he might get a rash but they said it would be on legs.
Does he usually eat regularly? Or is he still mainly on milk? If he usually eats well and hasn’t eaten since Friday you really should seek advice

dementedpixie · 10/02/2021 18:17

I dont know why they would say the rash would be on the legs. Measles doesn't only affect the leg area. Loss of appetite is also a side effect.

hallomother · 10/02/2021 18:18

My apologies, we weren’t told either of those things. Confused I did wonder why they said legs when the jabs were in the arms...

cautiouscovidity · 10/02/2021 18:18

Very common. Both my DCS and many of their friends had this. I was told it was due to the measles part of the MMR working.

LalalaLa20 · 10/02/2021 18:22

One of my children developed a rash that begun like this, a day after his mmr jab. It progressed into “mini measles” as the dr called it. He was really unwell for about a week before it ran its course. Had no reaction to the second dose of MMR a few years later.

Spoken to gp they just called back.
No concerns on eating as he's a poor eater anyway. That's a whole other thread!
He's having wet nappies and pooping.

He has allergies so said its likely he may be acidy as less food etc. So giving a gaviscon and piriton which I'll collect in a bit.

He's on formula from gp anyway so he said continue with that as much as he wants.

Thank you

Can I ask how long did it last.

Hi OP!
Following with interest as my 15mo with allergies is scheduled for his jabs next week. We weren't sure about the MMR as he has egg (as well as dairy, legume and fish) allergy but we were assured by his allergist it would be fine as they use chick cell culture now.
Interestingly, we have a very poor eater too and he's going through a phase of refusing food so I feel your pain on that one.
