"Iain Porter, policy and partnerships manager at the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, said the uplift should be retained for at least a year and extended to people claiming legacy benefits."

Disability Benefits Consortium is calling on the government to renew the £20 uplift to universal credit and extend it to legacy benefits.

When it was pointed out to DWP secretary of state, Therese Coffey, last week that disabled people have borne higher costs during the pandemic, but those on ESA and JSA have not had any extra help at all, Coffey told MPs dismissively:

“ . . . I am not aware specifically of extra costs that would have been unduly incurred”

How can someone not see how living with disability costs even more during a pandemic, nobody is that stupid surely?

Legacy benefits should have been included from the start.

It's nothing to do with them not being aware of it. It's because they couldn't care less.
