My non-Brit partner just asked me what they'd do about her funeral and I don't know. What would happen? Put her on ice til later?

Oh god, the clapping Shock

katy1213 · 09/02/2021 18:14

Taxidermy?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 09/02/2021 18:16

The Queen's entire life has been characterised by obeying the rules and doing her public duty. I imagine she'd be absolutely mortified if her death provoked a massive demonstration against lockdown, which would (for sure) lead to a huge spike in infections in the subsequent weeks.

Bumpsadaisie · 09/02/2021 18:17

Oh good god! Perish the thought!

I will be worrying about this now!

I am not a rabid monarchist - would never going and wait on the Royal Mall or anything like that. But I do feel glad that the Queen is ... you know ... there ....

Please don't die HMQ, until we can give you a big send off!

NerrSnerr · 09/02/2021 18:19

I don't think it's a morbid thread. It's entirely possible her or Phillip could go at any time. I'd rather they didn't, mainly because I think people are reacting to things badly enough as it is (for example it all kicked off in my village because someone wanted to replace the statue of the rainbow monster that was put on a roundabout to signify some good deeds in the first lockdown with a statue of Tom Moore and it got really nasty!) Think many will kick off if the queen dies.

@katy1213

Taxidermy?
👏👏👏
MissingLinker · 09/02/2021 18:22

I don't know about specifics but it will fuck up the TV schedule.

Alonelonelyloner · 09/02/2021 18:23

We will be told to stand on our doorsteps and clap.@TerrifiedandWorried

Oh gawd I just laughed and spat wine everywhere .

She has two birthdays. She'd have two funerals.

Alonelonelyloner · 09/02/2021 18:26

Oooh good point

Covidcorvid · 09/02/2021 18:26

They’ll have to abide by the rules, so 15 mourners? Or is it 30?

Probably a later memorial service.

Prince Philip likely to go first I guess.

StealthPolarBear · 09/02/2021 18:27

Bluetimes surely those people would be working rather than attending

NailsNeedDoing · 09/02/2021 18:29

It would be a nightmare to police, they wouldn’t be able to stop people going to the palace so they have to do some serious organising.

Topseyt · 09/02/2021 18:33

Freetigerking · 09/02/2021 18:35

I think Philip will go first unfortunately

Wannabangbang · 09/02/2021 18:36

Be stuck with Charles as king, dread the thought Hmm how he treated Diana don't relish in the thought it tbh. On a serious note probably a quiet ceremony televised i guess.

QueenZoopla · 09/02/2021 18:37

LOL this is on about the bottom page of a million page list of "things I'm concerned about because of COVID"

ktp100 · 09/02/2021 18:37

The same as everyone else, I'd think.

Small funeral for immediate family only, maybe they'd do the drive through the streets and televise it but have a Police presence to disperse any gatherings/viewers.

Nothing OTT, I would expect, and rightly so.

DameJackieWeaver · 09/02/2021 18:39

I don’t think it’s unfortunate that he’ll go first. He’s older.
EvieBoo2 · 09/02/2021 18:40

You're a cheery soul.

giletrouge · 09/02/2021 18:41

Please stop with the clapping!
I think Phil's on borrowed time, btw...

Sarahandduck18 · 09/02/2021 18:41

It’s almost all be worth it if covid is what brings down the monarchy.

Meowmeow20202 · 09/02/2021 18:44

I bet everyone's holding their breath around hm and prince Philip just now. Saying that prince Philip wants a no fuss funeral so he would probably prefer it.

Covidcorvid · 09/02/2021 18:46

I had the option of paying an extra feee to have my mums funeral live-streamed at the crem. Guess they’ll have the same option. 😂😂

ShaunaTheSheep · 09/02/2021 18:47

Rest assured there are alternative plans for Covid times.
