When would you become concerned about lack of pooping?!

I recently gave birth just this last Friday gone.

I haven't poo'd at all since Thursday morning (went into labour very early Friday morning).

Since giving birth I have eaten pretty normally tbh but nothing is coming out and I don't even feel blocked up or constipated either so I'm not sure where it's going! Blush

I am anxiously await it's arrival as I did have stitches and am not looking forward to it but should it have happened now do you think?!

I am concerned because I lost feeling in my bladder and couldn't tell for a few days when my bladder was full. I just have to take myself off to the toilet when I think I should probably need to go. That's starting to slowly come back now but a bit worried if the same thing is happening bowel wise?

I have the midwife coming tomorrow so I'll definitely mention it. Just wondering if anyone else had similar or would you be concerned at this point? Or is 5 days normal?!

Def mention it to your m/w.

I think it’s not necessarily worrying by itself, as long as you are passing gas etc, it was definitely nearly a week for me as I was discharged from hospital on day 4, they nearly kept me in because I hadn’t poo’d.

However in combination with the bladder issue I’d be a bit more worried. That isn’t usual, but good it’s starting to come back, may be a temporary nerve compression.

Def speak to someone though.

I was constipated after I had ds1 ,did you have morphine etc whist you were in labour ?I wouldn't be too concerned after five days but you need to speak to the midwife ,I seem to remember there are only certain laxatives you can take if your Breast feeding so it might be worth trying to get a Drs appointment or call back ?

Thank you! I will definitely mention it.

I did have morphine actually yes, I hadn't thought of that.

I usually wouldn't be concerned myself either but I'm so anxious about the first time that I'm sat waiting for it! Blush
