Both of mine are on a break for the next 20 minutes.

DS (8) is in his wellies, coat, gloves etc. standing in a bucket of very icy water in the garden, eating half a mango and trying to catch snow flakes.

DD (15) is still in her pyjamas Blush and making fruit salad. She has done her lessons this morning but sees no point in getting dressed to go no where.

Eating their mid morning snack and debating who ds3 loves the most (they on a break).

Ds3 is eating some grapes and babbling.

ssd · 09/02/2021 11:17

Ds has a lecture.

SimonJT · 09/02/2021 11:17

Running between the living area and his bedroom while shouting really loudly and waving a foam sword around.

Dd (11) is sat next to me in her pj's, playing roblox. Weve been out for a walk, had a nice hot bath and got back in to pj's.

Her school haven't set any school since last Wednesday as its been mental health awareness week.

Hollyhead · 09/02/2021 11:17

5 year old (year 1) is playing with Paw Patrol toys having rejected all schooling today.

  • Year 4 DS is playing minecraft having completed 3/6 activities set for yesterday and none today.

I have 5 hours of meetings and a whole load of work to catch up on so there's fuck all I can do.

niceupthedance · 09/02/2021 11:17

DS did a live lesson on fractions and now on the Xbox (age 10)

Pascha · 09/02/2021 11:18

Both boys on headphones listening to their video lessons. Ds1 is doing English and ds2, maths. Because we are having some repair work done in the kitchen today, they are set up in my living room using the fold out picnic table. It's rather too cosy in here for my liking.

ClaudiaWankleman · 09/02/2021 11:19

Some lessons are pre-recorded, but most days they tend to be doing school work much longer than the actual school day
@DeathMetalMum Of course I don't know all the details, but this just doesn't seem right. Have you thought about prioritising the 'vital' stuff and rotating (or dumping) the rest?

I doubt they will be taking it in if they're working a full 9-5 school day on their own anyway.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 09/02/2021 11:20

My teens on their break but have attended their online School lessons. DS is now gaming with friends and DD is chatting to her friends.

Actually they're now due their next lesson

merryhouse · 09/02/2021 11:23

They're 21 and 17, and are both studying. No idea whether they're on lessons/lectures or just private study: we pretty much leave them to get on with it. (If I happen to be in the bedroom when S2 makes his toast I might not see him till lunchtime.)

Grits · 09/02/2021 11:23

Watching Wallace and Gromit. Y1 DD has done 2 pieces of school work this morning from yesterday's set pieces, as we spent yesterday outside in the snow! We have another 4 inches of the stuff today and I'm trying to motivate her into finishing yesterday and today's work before she plays outside again. I have a baby asleep on me at the moment though so can't do any chivvying along.

ArosAdraDrosDolig · 09/02/2021 11:23

One on an online lesson (y8)
Another making herself some toast (y6)
One practising guitar (y4)
One writing a secret diary (y1)

ScatteredMama82 · 09/02/2021 11:23

DS1 (yr 6) is upstairs on a Teams lesson. DS2 (yr1) is watching Mike the Knight while I try to do some work. We've done his spelling and phonics activities this morning. Science and maths to do after lunch. Thankfully they are both still fairly engaged with the homeschool work that is set.

MintyMabel · 09/02/2021 11:24

At her desk doing schoolwork. We'll find some time for snow play later.

Fembot123 · 09/02/2021 11:25

Live lessons, well they better be as I’m at work.

lucysmam · 09/02/2021 11:26

Both in online lessons.

Dd1's about to break for lunch, just before I leave for work. She's also constantly clicking a pen - it's really annoying.

Dd2's got another half hour of maths - I'd ask what they're doing but she's got both earphones in & is concentrating on whatever it is.

EventuallyDeleted · 09/02/2021 11:26

No idea, they were both still in bed asleep when I left for work. Hopefully up and live-schooling through Teams. Probably in pyjamas (DS's pj tops look like t shirts and DD's camera is broken)

IndecentFeminist · 09/02/2021 11:28

We had an awful day yesterday with absolutely no tech working and boiler issues. (In a temp house at the mo). So a bit of a catch up day today. Kids have been to park to see snow, and just finished maths. Having an early lunch with dh before he goes off to a job, I'm off for a shower and then we will restart at 12ish.

We don't have any live lessons, some prerecorded and rest are links so time flexible. We could get through everything in a couple of hours. Probably realistic given all the 'wasted' time at school. We will aim to finish by 2 so I can prep dinner before getting the preschooler around 3.

Ihatemyseleffordoingthis · 09/02/2021 11:32

DC1 Y11 doing GCSE History test with appearance of diligence, but I am sceptical
DC2 Y9 asleep in bed, refusing to get up
DC3 Y6 has burst into tears at suggestion any more comprehension or bloody english story mapping worksheets and with my permission has toddled off to make an animation

Foldinthecheese · 09/02/2021 11:32

Toddler is napping and 5yo twins are building a fort in the living room and building a campfire out of Duplo. We did phonics and read a book about internet safety this morning. We’ll do some maths after lunch and then I’ll brave the cold to get them out for a bit.

CarryOnPlainHunting · 09/02/2021 11:34

Ds1 (15 yo) is in the study having a German lesson
Ds2 (12yo) is in his bedroom having a biology lesson

HazeyJaneII · 09/02/2021 11:35

One is doing a live German lesson
One is doing art listening to music
One is doing maths with his dad and grandad (on facetime)

Ace1185 · 09/02/2021 11:38

One ds here 9 he has been out all morning in the snow. This is the first decent amount of snow we have had a good 5in overnight. In now and dried, done two tasks for school work. Lunch soon and the last task and more snow play. He is having some time on his xbox now

steppemum · 09/02/2021 11:39

ds is 18 and probably still asleep, but may be sitting up in bed following lessons with his camera off.

dd1 is doing school online (live lessons) in her room

dd2 is also doing live lessons, but she has pe so instead is catching up on work she has missed.

Globe22 · 09/02/2021 11:39

Mine should be doing an online lesson but I suspect he is like me avoiding doing some work and is gaming. He's having a meh day so I'm leaving him to do things his way!
