Really, really missing browsing in clothes shops

I am really missing clothes shopping ( although there is no where to wear them !!) I am gone away from online as live in Ireland and the customs thing with the UK is just too much bother and confusing plus i would like to support independent boutiques /their owner entrepeneur !! I would like to buy my Tween some clothes too. Savings are better but am missing that joy of just browsing!!!anyone else. I have a wardrobe full of clothes and no where to wear them !!!!

I'm not missing buying clothes (I own too many already)

But if I did fancy something new, I'd want to go and browse and see the actual colour, feel the quality of the fabric, hold it up to see the length against my body . Maybe have the serendipitous find of something that wasn't even on your radar until you saw it

One day!!

Oh me too. DD was born in September and I've bought all of her clothes online. I'd love to go and have a browse for some nice things for her.

I miss having a rummage through charity shops and jumble sales for the wildcard pieces. The usual online retailers just aren't inspiring to me.

I miss it too. I didnt in the first lockdown so much, but this time around I really am. I keep thinking about popping to Sainsburys just so I can have a mooch through the clothes/ books/ home stuff but know it's not essential so I won't. Meh.

I miss going to John Lewis with my mum, browsing every department then going for lunch in the cafe together.

Fiddlestix2021 · 09/02/2021 15:06

Oh yes. And having a coffee and cake while I'm out

I thought i'd miss it too. but i went to the shops this morning on my way back from the office (our shops are open here). and it was horrible. felt really impersonal.

in one of the shops there was a one way system, and i was told off for touching the clothes - i needed to flick through them to find the right sizes for the DC. i got a bit angry at this point (internally fuming not at the sales staff who were just doing their jobs) but i said to dh that i was sorely tempted to lick the items.

im with you on the supporting local and online issues though. im in jersey, and we are having all sorts of issues with our customs....

I miss it too because it's something dd15 and I always do together, along with a nice lunch. It's our bonding time. I just hope there are some clothes shops left after all this.
