What is this on my lip?

TheDiceWoman1 · 08/02/2021 15:44

Please can anyone offer any advise before I speak to the GP as I'm starting to worry. Strange spot thing on my lip that mainly seems nearly the same colour as my lip. It doesn't look like a normal spot and only very slightly raised? Thank you.

I appreciate it's not a great photo.

Cold sore

Hazelmazel · 08/02/2021 15:46

It looks like the start of a cold sore. How long have you had it?

MaddieElla · 08/02/2021 15:47

Cold sore. If you get acne it could be a spot. Cold sores are very sore to touch.

Is it itchy/tingly?

RuledbyASD · 08/02/2021 15:48

Please don't bother a GP over a cold sore!!! Just get some Zovirax

SassenachWitch · 08/02/2021 15:50

Have you tried squeezing it?

I have tiny little pores around my lips that need a little squeeze every few weeks. It’s usually a build up of makeup.

TheDiceWoman1 · 08/02/2021 15:53

It's not itchy or sore in the slightest. I've never had cold sores before. I do suffer with acne which I have meds and cream for. I've only known it's there by looking in the mirror and seeing it on my meeting videos.

How long have you had it? If more than 3 weeks, go to the GP. If less than 3 weeks just wait.

BaggoMcoys · 08/02/2021 16:48

Your op has reminded me, I'd completely forgotten but I had a lump like that on my lip for a while. I've never had cold sores and mine stayed as a lump like that, before eventually going away. It wasn't sore or itchy or tingly, and I couldn't squeeze anything out of it so I don't think it was a spot. I thought maybe I'd bitten my lip or something and it was from that... I have no memory of biting my lip, I just couldn't think what else it may be.

BaggoMcoys · 08/02/2021 16:49

Mine went away by itself, I didn't put anything on it. I can't remember how long it was there exactly, but it was over a month I think.

TheDiceWoman1 · 08/02/2021 17:27

@BaggoMcoys thank you there reassuring. I'm aware I have huge anxiety around my health.

I'm glad you feel reassured. I get a bit anxious about my health too sometimes - I think it's hard not to with Google at our fingertips!

MaddieElla · 08/02/2021 20:08

If you've tried squeezing it and haven't hit the roof I don't think it's a cold sore. See if it's still there in a few days.

sonjadog · 08/02/2021 20:15

I get lumps that look like that sometimes. It is just a spot. It goes away in a few weeks, I think. I have never timed it.
