Ordering food to a hotel

I'm embarrassed to be asking this but I get horribly self conscious and anxious when I don't know what to expect Confused

I'm staying in a Premier Inn at the moment (hospital placement student so I'm allowed!). They aren't doing food understandably because of Covid and what not but when I checked in they said feel free to order from Just eat or Deliveroo or similar.

How does this work? The main hotel doors are key card only, will they call me to come down and meet them at the door or buzz for reception?

I keep eyeing up the lovely online menus every night but I'm too embarrassed to order without knowing how it works! Can anyone help me?

(I promise I'm not usually so wet, I'm pretty confident in general!)

Thank you Grin

I know this is a pathetic problem but I can't face another cup a soup or pot noodle!

The delivery person will phone you when they are outside and you go down to collect from them.

You'll get a call or text when they arrive to the hotel. In current times they'll probably expect you to meet them at the main entrance.

Enjoy your food 😊

You would have to go down and collect it from the front door, they won't be able to enter the hotel at all. Just pop a message saying "phone X number when you're outside the hotel"

I’ve had them ring when they arrive. Some of them even stick in a paper plate!

HandforthParishCouncilTurfWar · 07/02/2021 21:58

Just leave a note on the order saying ring when nearby or track the order and wait in reception.

Never done it myself, but if they're encouraging it go for it.

I'd put a note in the comments 'please phone when outside' make sure your mobile number is correct and just pop down to grab it from the door.

First of all OP, this is totally something I would stress about so don’t feel alone on that point.

If you are ok with phone calls, you can call and ask the takeaway. Or ask reception how it normally works. Or if you do an online order you could use the delivery items to ask them to phone you on delivery? I’m sure the hotel and the food delivers are used to it so will help you out.

You're all great, thank you!

Enjoy

What I would give to delve into a premier inn bed right now

Hope your placement goes well :)

I’ve ordered to a hotel many times - leave a message on your order to call you when outside and nip down for it!

Whyyyyyythough · 07/02/2021 23:46

I would also worry about things like this!

If it makes you feel any better I swear I heard a story about a guy on a train ordering a pizza to one of the stations en route!
