What’s on your post covid bucket list?

I am planning for what I’d most like to do post covid. What’s on your post covid bucket list and what isn’t that surprises you?

For me:

  • Seeing my parents!
  • Having a night away with my husband without children involving good food, wine, music and a luxurious hotel room!
  • Going for a swim.
  • Hosting a dinner party/bbq
  • Go on holiday
  • Going to a concert

What am I not bothered about that I previously enjoyed:

  • clothes shopping!!

What about you?

  1. A massage or even a spa day. My back was/is so sore from breast feeding and cosleeping and DD2 was just about getting to the stage I could leave her for 2 hours and then covid happened
  2. School run
  3. Supermarket food shop
  4. Soft play
  5. Toddler group
  6. A night out with friend
  7. Swim
  8. Just going round to my parents house for a cuppa
  9. DD1 swimming, gymnastics and ice skating lessons
10. Child friendly museums

Yes, you're very welcome to come too!

Wish I could write for a living. Grin

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie

I want to have some friends round for dinner and to get to that lovely stage of drunk where you all have a bit of a kitchen dance.

I want to eat out in a different restaurant every night for a week, at least.

I want to get on a plane and visit my favourite city and just walk for miles and sit in cafes and people watch and go to museums and sit in bars and just breathe it all in.

I want to sit in a variety of hipster coffee shops with posh toasted sandwiches and coffee in tiny cups so hot that it burns, whilst a bearded man bustles around me looking achingly cool.

I want to go to a book shop and spend at least an hour smelling the pages and deciding what to buy, then go for a coffee and come back for another hour and probably change my mind, but it will definitely involve a history book, a cookery book, a note book, and a new bookmark.

I want to go to the seaside and eat chips on the beach and take photographs of seagulls and drink a pint in the most old fashioned pub I can find and then go back on the beach and find the prettiest pebbles to bring home and find weeks later in my pockets.

I want to go a dress shop and try on many, many dresses and stroke all the fabrics and then decide I hate them all and then change my mind and probably end up buying the first one I tried on.

And I want to go to our local bar and sit there all night playing cards and talking nonsense and drunk buying books from ABE on my phone, before leaving just before the pizza place closes in time to buy a vegetarian hot one to be eaten, drippingly, on the walk/stagger home.

This is beautiful. I hope you (and I) can do all of this soon. I also think you should be writing for a living, you have a wonderful way with words that just brings everything to life. I saw your comment of 'I wish' and I think you could and should, I'd read what you write!

Yeah, I'm going to touch people

Normally very non-touchy

Bbq1 · 06/02/2021 23:38

Enjoying our family holiday booked since 2019 - which was postponed from August last year

Going to the theatre with mum

Going to the hairdressers

Eating out at our favourite local restaurant

Seeing my brother

Returning to church on a Sunday with no restrictions

It's going to be lovely to book ahead and plan for days out, concerts etc knowing they won't be cancelled.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/02/2021 23:38

That's very kind of you all. Thanks, Countrygirl. I do know how to use commas really, too - but I think my excitement ran away with me rather! Grin

Mother2princess · 07/02/2021 00:42

Book a family holiday for us all for sometime next year

Silkiechickscat · 07/02/2021 06:57

Travel - had to cancel our holiday to Borneo, Perhentians Islands and Thailand last year and would love to do at least the Borneo part once its safe.

I'ld love my French DH to be able to see his Mum and his friends in France who he hasn't seen for a year.

And swimming. And just being able to book the odd day out and birthday parties for the kids.

Fascinationends · 07/02/2021 07:17

I will eat my favourite meal in my favourite restaurant.

I will finally get to go to Seville.
I will buy a bloody bra that fits properly, rather than guessing by the photo.
I will stop the endless calls and texts to see how everyone is and put my phone on silent for a month.

@Thatwentbadly my massage therapist is still open, if it's for health rather than 'pleasure' they are permitted. She's saved my back! If it's something you're comfortable with.

Bloodybridget · 07/02/2021 08:26

Seeing friends and family indoors! Including having them round for meals.
Restaurants and cafes.
Choir rehearsals.
Holidays.
Mask-free shop browsing.
Using public transport and rediscovering London.

Thanks @Heartbeats0708 but my husband is ECV so it’s too much of a risk for us for now. Luckily DH has had his first vaccination so maybe in 4 weeks I will consider it.

ritzbiscuits · 07/02/2021 08:51

I'm going to book a Berlin city break on my own to tour the museums with DH or DS (Age 7). My DH goes regularly pre Covid to watch classical music, so it's my turn!

Plus book a family beach holiday and rebook my 40th birthday trip to Copenhagen.

lightand · 07/02/2021 09:03

Getting together properly with people. None of the social distancing lark with it.

Hairdresser. I have been waiting for a hairdresser thread to come up. I feel like a sheep that quite badly needs to be shorn. Been looking at diy hair videos in desperation.

MysweetAudrina · 07/02/2021 09:13

I don't think there is anything specifically that I will plan to do but I am looking forward to having more of a choice in what I can do. Like day to day I don't miss anything but it would be nice to be able to decide on a particular day that I would love to see a play, go out for dinner, book a massage, visit my parents, drop in on a friend, book a holiday, head out for the day, browse the shops, get a pedicure, bring kids to the cinema, have older kids over for dinner.

At the moment my only options outside the house are go for a walk within 5km limit or do a food shop.
