I know academics say this can’t be the case but in my somewhat extensive experience it is.
I find red wine makes me sleepy and slurry
and Champagne makes me wide awake and NUTS...

I don’t really drink, but I cannot tolerate whisky the smell of it makes me boak
Champagne is a bit of a lift, always elevates your mood (good I sound poncey)
Never drink red wine so no comment on that

NotWithMyShoes · 06/02/2021 19:48

Yes. Well it did when I was at uni. I could drink spirits all night but two glasses of wine...

SendMeHome · 06/02/2021 19:50

No. But my mood plays a massive difference.

I have a friend who has convinced herself that gin makes her friendly and confident and vodka makes her cry. I’m sure that it’s only the case now because she expects it to be so deeply!b

I know so many people who say gin makes them cry

Beer makes me sleepy
Small amounts of wine get me absolutely trashed

LER83 · 06/02/2021 20:39

One glass of white wine and I feel really drunk, room spins and everything. Spirits and cocktails, I'm a happy drunk, but need to drink quite a few. Red wine makes me quite sad. Cider makes me loud!

Friendless00 · 06/02/2021 20:42

I can drink gin/rum all night and it doesn’t affect me at all. 3/4 glasses of wine and I’m out for the count.

jusdepamplemousse · 06/02/2021 20:44

I simply cannot handle tequila.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 06/02/2021 20:46

Yes! Gin really takes the edge off in a way that other drinks dont.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 06/02/2021 20:47

Yep, wine drunk, for me, is a whole different level of drunk. I also got nasty when I drank a particular spirit one night, never happened before, or since, and I've never touched that drink again.

White wine and fizz sends me an instant headache. Whisky and red wine no problem.
