What film should we watch tonight?

Me, Dh, Ds15 and Ds11.

Saturday night is family night, where the teenager graces us with his presence.
We've got Netflix, Disney+, Amazon prime (don't judge, it's lockdown)

We've done Star Wars and Marvel to death.

Ideas PLEASE so we don't sit scrolling and bickering. Thank you! Smile

Greenland on amazon prime is really good, also time trap on netflix

mnahmnah · 06/02/2021 18:14

Have you seen Clash of the Titans? Great sports based film, set when schools were being desegregated in America. Fun parts, serious parts, very enjoyable. Disney.

mnahmnah · 06/02/2021 18:14

Oops! I meant remember the Titans!

mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 18:15

Haven't seen any of those so will have a look, thanks.

I didn't think Clash of the Titans sounded right.

Blush
NewSummer · 06/02/2021 18:17

We're going to watch Parasite, on Amazon Prime.

NewSummer · 06/02/2021 18:18

@NewSummer

We're going to watch Parasite, on Amazon Prime.
It's the one that won Best Picture at the Oscars!
mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 18:18

GrinWe've watched Clash of the Titans (the remake) and it was VERY different to what you describe!! (Also quite good though)

Parasite justifies the hype and worth watching.
If still on Amazon Prime, The Emperor of Paris perhaps.

JellyTots2009 · 06/02/2021 18:20

I come to second Greenland. If your into end of the world films

sadpapercourtesan · 06/02/2021 18:21

Thanks to @OohKittens we are going to watch Greenland tonight! I am so excited that there's a comet/asteroid movie I haven't seen, I just shouted DH to come in from the garden to tell him we're watching it Blush

I hope it's as good as Deep Impact and Armageddon! (my two favourite disaster movies)

MumUndone · 06/02/2021 18:23

Agree Greenland is good

mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 18:24

This is why I love mumsnet Smile

I would say it is better than deep impact. Another good film mine enjoyed lately is tailgate on sky. It's subtitled but proper edge of your seat stuff, a little scary but no sexual scenes at all.

mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 18:26

I will put it out to the boy jury to decide but it's between Greenland, Parasite and Remember the Titans. I think the latter will win as Coach Carter is one of their favourites and it sounds like it has a similar vibe.

Greenland is very good. Lots of twists and turns and you wonder how they get out of them. And Gerald butler looking fine too Grineven if he's aging

mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 18:28

Gerald Butler gets my voteWink

Weatherwax · 06/02/2021 18:30

How about A Knight's Tale or The Fifth Element. Just watched both of these with my two similar age and they loved them.

OohKittens · 06/02/2021 18:31

Also depends how much violence or scary scenes you don't mind but mine loved the film US.

peaceanddove · 06/02/2021 18:31

Oooh, glad to see all the love for Greenland. We're just waiting for a Chinese to arrive then us and the teens are watching it Smile

Ninkanink · 06/02/2021 18:32

Parasite is good.

BasinHaircut · 06/02/2021 18:33

We watched Greenland last night and I thought it was pants. Poor mans 2012.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/02/2021 18:35

Have you watched Enola Holmes? We all enjoyed that (me, DH, two teenage boys)

mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 18:36

Ds2 isn't good with scary so US might not be an option. The fifth element is a good call - I remember watching it back in the day but can't recall much about it. There seems to be a lot of love for Greenland so I'll maybe try and steer the decision that way (nothing to do with Gerard Butler, you understand...)
