What film should we watch tonight?

Me, Dh, Ds15 and Ds11.

Saturday night is family night, where the teenager graces us with his presence.
We've got Netflix, Disney+, Amazon prime (don't judge, it's lockdown)

We've done Star Wars and Marvel to death.

Ideas PLEASE so we don't sit scrolling and bickering. Thank you! Smile

Groundhog Day.

mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 20:16

It's good already and we're only about 15 mins in. I do like a good disaster movie.

We're about an hour in (Greenland) after reading this thread earlier! Bloody hell!! All the emotions. So gripping but cried lots already!

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 06/02/2021 20:49

We just watched Oceans 11. 9 and 13 yr old both loves it. I loved watching George and Brad in their prime.

Plonque · 06/02/2021 20:56

@mamaduckbone

Greenland has gone to the bottom of the list as it's £20 to buy on PrimeShock

Are you sure? Says included with prime on mine and I watched it for free last night.

What film should we watch tonight?
plinkplinkfizzer · 06/02/2021 21:04

BIG .

mamaduckbone · 06/02/2021 21:12

I remember watching Big at the cinema when I was about 13!!

Ninkanink · 06/02/2021 21:39

Oh god no, not Big. That is a film that really hasn’t aged well...

JellyTots2009 · 07/02/2021 00:09

Hope you enjoyed it OP.

frogsarejumpy · 07/02/2021 00:14

Maze Runner, Divergent- my two loved them!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/02/2021 08:08

Parasite is brilliant.
The Dig is next on our list.

GetTheStartyParted · 07/02/2021 08:20

We watched Safety on Disney + last night. It's based on a true story and is centred around American football. My 12 year old really enjoyed it.

Clicketyclick21 · 07/02/2021 08:28

We watched Artemis Fowl (2020) on Disney+ with Colin Farrel in it. My kids enjoyed it as it had the right amount of action without it being too scary.

LittleRedCourgettes · 07/02/2021 09:25

I wouldn't watch Parasite with an 11yr old.

NoAuthorityHereJackieWeaver · 07/02/2021 09:26

Pride

olafolaf · 07/02/2021 10:55

Another vote for Knives Out. Parasite with an 11 year old? Eek! I watched it with a 15 year old which was just about ok and then made the mistake of agreeing to watch Oldboy by the same director and omg 😱 don't do it

icebearforpresident · 07/02/2021 10:56

We watched The Martian last night, seen it loads but I love it.

DH and I have been working our way through any disaster movie with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson in it: San Andreas, Skyscraper, Rampage. They’re definitely NOT going to go down in cinema history as the best movies ever made but they are brilliantly silly and a great way to spend 2 hours on a Saturday night.

NewSummer · 07/02/2021 11:06

This morning I now understand why not to watch Parasite with an 11 year old Grin Sorry!

mamaduckbone · 07/02/2021 11:32

I really want to watch Parasite now (but not with the 11yo it seems!)
Greenland was just the ticket so thank you for the recommendations, and I've got a few more lined up now for the next few weeks. Some great suggestions from the mumsnet hive mindSmile

I'm not sure about Maze Runner, Divergent and that ilk with the 11yo yet - he's got a vivid imagination. We tried Stranger Things, which ds15 loved at about the same age and he didn't get past the first 15 minutes so I have to be a bit careful. The 15yo watches far scarier and more gruesome things than I can stomach with no apparent ill effects. We're watching The Walking Dead with him (when the 11yo is in bed, obviously) and I spend most of the time hiding behind a cushion...

My teenagers enjoyed Dale and Tucker vs Evil (15)
www.netflix.com/gb/

Not free on Prime, but it's been out a while so relatively cheap.

LOTM · 07/02/2021 11:40

Wrong link for Dale & Tucker
www.imdb.com/title/tt1465522/

Shelleyjelly80 · 07/02/2021 14:17

We watched Greenland last night thanks to this thread, Bloody hell it was tense! Really liked it though much better than any other disaster film I've seen.
