Are tempur pillows worth the money?

I started another thread for recommendations and these cropped up a lot. They’re so expensively though I thought I would ask to see how many of you have invested and whether they have made that much difference? Do they fit in standard pillow cases?!

In my experience - no! I bought one and woke up with the worst neck pain ever. I persevered for a week and gave up as the stiff neck each morning wasn't improving. I passed it on to my mum who couldn't get on with it either

Fefifoefum · 06/02/2021 16:55

YES
I’ve had one for 10 years now. Love it.
Standard pillow case is fine

TreacleHart · 06/02/2021 16:57

No. Ok for a few months then just like other shit pillows.

I love mine, therefore its priceless !

NoAuthorityHereJackieWeaver · 06/02/2021 16:58

Nope, but I am not a big lover of any pillow

Timeforabiscuit · 06/02/2021 16:59

The trick is not to pay too much attention to the numbers involved in purchasing...

willien · 06/02/2021 17:01

I haven't got tempur, but I have the emma pillow which is amazing. I got them for about £40 each which a discount code. Would really recommend

Littleegglet · 06/02/2021 20:10

Interesting anyone else?

YES!!

Best thing I ever bought. Ever!

DobbieFreeElf · 06/02/2021 20:12

Panda pillow. My DH took the mick about mine so I bought him one when he complained of recurring neck pain and now he can’t sleep without it. We also bought the kids version for my 4 year old, again he loves it!

RefuseTheLies · 06/02/2021 20:14

I have one and I hate it. I only continue to use it because I paid so much bloody money for it.

SimonJT · 06/02/2021 20:14

We have a tempur mattress and pillow, we have one of the shaped foam pillows. It came free with our mattress, it’s very comfy and I now can’t sleep with other pillows.

You can get cheaper memory foam shaped pillows.

pollypot123 · 06/02/2021 20:14

I love mine - we all have one. It’s lower than what you’re probably used to but once you’ve used it a while you’ll love it. Perfect support, like sleeping on a cloud.

Itstartedinbarcelona · 06/02/2021 20:16

Yes - got one for Xmas after experiencing it at a holiday cottage in October. It was expensive but it’s amazing.

WhatMattersMost · 06/02/2021 20:16

It didn't work for me. I am a front sleeper. By far the best pillows have been medium feather/down pillows ... and a wool pillow that I'm absolutely loving.

FuturePerfect · 06/02/2021 20:19

I have the ergonomic shaped one. I purchased it in distress when I had that terrible neck/shoulder pain you get when you crick your neck in your sleep. Chiropractor recommended it.

I've had it for years, so the eye-watering price is less bad to contemplate now. OH has a similar but cheaper version but he often steals mine if He gets the chance as he reckons it is better.

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 06/02/2021 20:27

I have a shredded memory foam pillow. It cost me somewhere round £16. The foam is in a zipped case so you can take out excess foam, then has another cover over that. It fits in a normal pillowcase.
Its like having a feather pillow but obviously no allergy, so much better than a solid lump of memory foam.

BringMeThatHorizon · 06/02/2021 20:28

Yes, mine is amazing, totally worth the money!

Quornflakegirl · 06/02/2021 20:34

Definitely, i bought mine 14 years ago and its hasn't lost shape. It did cost £70 then!

SimplyRadishing · 06/02/2021 20:40

I got them for free from dreams when buying a new bed last year.

My husband likes his and I like them too. They are different to sleep on but you get used to it

blonderunner · 06/02/2021 20:42

Yes I had chronic neck pain for years and the Tempur pillow has been amazing. Even bring it on holidays if driving. Worth every penny!

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 06/02/2021 20:53

No. Dunelm memory foam pillows are better and only £35.

Littleegglet · 06/02/2021 21:04

People who say yes, which type do you have? I get tension headaches and tight neck/shoulders/back a lot and it seems to be pillow related which is why I’m debating whether to splash out

Yes. I have the tempura cloud though which is softer. I replace it every 2 years or so and I think , at £85, it is excellent value. It's not hard and it's not stupidly soft - just nicely firm

ALemonEntryDearWatson · 06/02/2021 21:06

Err tempur. I've not battered it in oil or anything
