Why didn’t I know about this?

Apparently you can have drawers built in your kitchen behind the kickboards under the units...plinth drawers, which would be so bloody useful in my kitchen. I need to try and find out if they can be fitted now after the kitchen is in!

I didn't know that either - mind blown. Great idea

BashfulClam · 06/02/2021 16:04

It is a fab idea. I saw it on Instagram and 🤯 obviously they are shallow but for tea towels, baking trays, etc they would be so useful.

Where and how does one get them? Asking for a friend. Obviously.

HandsFaceSpaceHopper · 06/02/2021 16:06

I've often thought that was a waste of space, same as on top of the cupboards in a fitted kitchen.
Never knew about them either, thanks OP.

BashfulClam · 06/02/2021 16:07

I’m not sure, this is something I’ll need to find out. Howdens and IKEA sell them.

🤫 Great hiding places! I'd love these.

BashfulClam · 06/02/2021 16:08

@HandsFaceSpaceHopper I’d love wee built on
Cupboard at the top, I’m tall though so it’s fine to
have really high cupboards

Shops use these under their lower shelves. Very useful!

chestnutmares · 06/02/2021 16:35

OMG my tiny kitchen needs these! I can't see them at IKEA though, can anyone link?

Plump82 · 06/02/2021 16:36

Stacey Solomon is always going on about hers on Instagram. I'd love some!

mrwalkensir · 06/02/2021 16:40

plinth pods - wonder how much they cost...

birdglasspen · 06/02/2021 16:46

I have them, they are handy, store dishwasher tablets, bin bags in one, another has hoover bags, a brush and dustpan and one with oven trays. Great space saver! You can also get plinth heaters which I know can be installed retrospectively. It's great for warming up a cold kitchen!

DicklessWonder · 06/02/2021 16:50

Had them in a flat in London in the early noughties.......

BashfulClam · 06/02/2021 16:59

@Plump82 it was on Stacey Solomon’s Instagram that I saw them and just thought ‘what an amazing idea’

I’m so glad I saw this before we started planning a new kitchen! Can you still use them if you’ve got underfloor heating?

Oldraver · 08/02/2021 11:02

We built our own

The first one was in the utility and held the cat's litter tray so it could be shoved back during the day when. He didn't use it

The others we use for trays

Oldraver · 08/02/2021 11:06

Utility one currently used for cloths, we've also used it for bun bags and cleaning stuff

Why didn’t I know about this?
PuppyMonkey · 08/02/2021 11:06

DP built our kitchen about 18 years ago and installed these. Great for all sorts of things.

Will see if dh would like a new weekend project

Oldraver · 10/02/2021 13:32

@PuppyMonkey ooh you have proper drawers.

Ours are still at the 'prototype' phase, ie cardboard. Ive been promised proper wood drawers for years
