Content marketing help!

I run social media for a local group and also for my work.. and although I think I generally create nice content, I don't find planning it very easy..

Can anyone recommend the best way to plan content? Which calendars or templates to use? Also whether it's worth using an app to schedule posts and if so which is worth using? (Preferably free)

At the moment I just have a collection of images and then type posts up as and when needed, but I could do with having some kind of schedule to it so I know in advance what I have coming up.

Any help appreciated!

You could use The Preview App for a Instagram. Upload the images and you can move them around to make the grid look good. You can also schedule posts to post.

Facebook has an in built function that allows you to schedule posts in advance.

Hootesuite is free for a limited number of accounts and good for scheduling for when you want to be offline, such as when you're on holiday.

Come back to the basics. Why are you on social media? What are the objectives? Who are your audiences? What do they want to know? Are you looking to give information or have two way communication?

Finally if you use a particular platform, which posts make you stop scrolling and look or read more closely? Emulate good practice elsewhere.

Hope that helps. SM management takes thought and time.

Thanks, I should have added that is another thing I have, so at least I can look at the grid layout before posting. Although haven't got round to using the scheduling tool!

Thanks for this. I think really I need to sit down and work this out and go back to basics like you say. Then hopefully it might make it a bit easier to create more content at least!
