Read it on holiday in Spain in 2018. Think it was a fairly newish publication.
Think it's a male author.
Main character; middle aged, married woman with kids - think she's a scientist or a science lecturer. Ex boyfriend from uni contacts her and she goes to visit him - under the ruse of a conference. I think it's based in Australia.
She goes to his hotel and he's very successful - has the penthouse and has filled the bathroom with all her favourite skincare and perfume.
He then asks her to be part of a scientific project into the female orgasm....
She ends up going through some situations - blindfolded and lots of people involved - I skipped those bits....anyhoo, whatever they find is a scientific breakthrough.
I think she is then flown to somewhere for more investigation and is kidnapped in a taxi because she's such an important part of the project....that's where it ends and I know there was a sequel.
