Apple cider vinegar?

Does anyone use this for health purposes? Been reading about it and bought some to try but blimey it doesn't taste good to drink even mixed with a full glass of water! Is it worth taking?

I just started taking this and I think it's been helping with digestion. I wimped out and bought the gummies though! They are sugar free and just taste like apples, quite pleasant. A bit pricey but I thought if I start on these and see a benefit then I might be more likely to tolerate the regular stuff

Roundlampshade · 06/02/2021 10:39

Don’t regard it as a drink but more like an ingredient. Use it in vinaigrette, you can add it to herbal tea and add in extra honey and an orange slice to disguise the taste.

TheVolturi · 06/02/2021 10:57

Oooh thank both, I didn't know there were gummies, and yes I could definitely mix in with herbal tea or food if it would still work.

I had a great aunt who swore by it. IIRC she mixed it with honey which presumably made it more palatable. I assumed it was somewhat similar to hot honey and lemon.

DenisetheMenace · 06/02/2021 11:04

Don’t know about taking it but it works on toenail infections just as well as the expensive commercial treatments. Dab it on twice a day. Takes a while, but so does the stuff from the chemist.

TheVolturi · 06/02/2021 12:20

Wow Denise thats interesting, I have a bit of a dodgy nail so I might as well try this!

TheVolturi

Mine was horrible (enjoy your dinner Grin). I’d tried all of expensive over the counter stuff without much improvement and it was becoming really expensive. Read a tip online and persevered with it and the improvement after 3 months or so (religiously, morning and evening ) was really noticeable so I persevered and after about 3 1/2 months more, big toenail was normal,

Gummies all the way here!! I bought some but just kept skipping it's as it's so disgusting.

I take it for health, kidney stones etc

Hmm maybe I will stick with the gummies after all!
LittleRedCourgettes · 06/02/2021 22:25

Just use it in your salad dressing or on chips Grin

AIMummy · 06/02/2021 22:27

I use it to remove peringual warts. Dab some of it on some cotton wool and tape it over the wart every night for two weeks. I use Apple cider vinegar with the 'mother'.

AIMummy · 06/02/2021 22:29

Oh yes and getting rid of fruit flies in the summer. Pour in a cup and squirt a bit of washing up liquid in it.

Damnloginpopup · 08/02/2021 06:15

Shot glass. Down it.

RubyGoat · 08/02/2021 06:31

You should not drink it neat, it's quite acidic & apparently it's possible to damage your throat by repeatedly doing this. I have raw ACV every morning in cloudy apple juice, the taste is still distinctly vinegary but because they are both apples, the 2 flavours don't seem to "fight" quite as much. Some people have it with orange juice but I didn't like the combination.

I also use it on wedges, salads etc.

This is me. It's a bit of the shock to the system, but gets it done.

It does make a nice salad dressing, though, with oil, lemon, salt and pepper - really good on a regular salad or avocado or bean salad, with tuna or sardines or eggs.

Or if it's more for regulating blood sugar, use the apple cider vinegar dressing to make a pickled coleslaw - sliced or roughly grated white cabbage, carrots, capsicums etc - and have a bit of it every day as a snack or starter.

If you like pickles in jars, like pickles onions, you can replace the pickling juice with apple cider vinegar.

Or eat the gummies.

weaselwords · 08/02/2021 07:03

I like honey and cider vinegar in hot water. Like honey and lemon. It does seem to help my joint pain.

Peanutbutterblood · 08/02/2021 07:21

I've recently started the gummies, hoping they will help my acid reflux. I tried the proper ACV but just couldnt drink it. If I see no difference with the gummies I might try it again and mix it with apple juice or honey

TheChosenTwo · 08/02/2021 07:21

I bought some for the same reason, to help aid digestion and whatever else i’d read about.
It’s awful even in a pint of water Grin
We just use it for cooking purposes now!

DoodleLovin · 08/02/2021 07:23

Started drinking it everyday 3 days ago. I mix it with a glass of water and I don’t mind the taste. Not sure if coincidence but my face is clearing up a charm!

Ifailed · 08/02/2021 07:25

The 'apple' is superfluous, cider is made from apples.

I have been taken two capsules (cheaper than the gummies) for a year now and they have nearly completely eradicated my IBS symptoms. I can now eat all the foods I was massively Intolerant to before

RubyGoat · 08/02/2021 08:08

I also take it for IBS.

TheVolturi · 08/02/2021 08:24

There are some benefits here I hadn't heard of so thank you all!
I am taking it for digestive purposes, and it's working so far, I get quite gassy and I honestly haven't been since I've been taking it.
I have found it better to take in warm water rather than cold, I think I'm just getting used to it 😂
