Is anyone having cancer surgery soon/ or had it last year? Did you have a covid jab?

My mum is due to have surgery scheduled in the next few weeks. She's in Ireland, vaccines haven't rolled out to her group yet.

I'm obviously very worried (on multiple fronts) but I wondered if anyone else is worried about a relative in this position? Or is in this position themselves?

Did cancer surgeries go ahead in the UK last year before any vaccinations were available?

DM has been undergoing various invasive treatments for cancer throughout the last year. This was northern England. Hospitals have been fantastic (she visits 2), have completely reworked all the protocols and processes to keep them as green wards to avoid cross infection with the Covid wards. It’s been a massive worry, but it’s felt very safe. She had her first vaccination last week.

I’m in NW England....cancer surgery has mainly gone ahead as it normally would....maybe some minor delays but generally as per non Covid times..... chemo and radiotherapy have gone ahead as normal..... people with cancer that I know are being told to get the vaccine whenever it is offered and that’s people having chemo as well
