Where to buy kids trainers in lockdown

choosername1234 · 04/02/2021 22:29

Where can I buy decent (actually, any) trainers for my son seeing as we can't go to any shops to look & try them on?
He's age 8, size 4.5
Too old for Clarks really. I want something not leather style rather than canvas as the local park is quite muddy.
Thanks!

Sports direct website?

TooStressyTooMessy · 04/02/2021 22:33

If it’s sports trainers you want, I often get trainers from the Nike or Adidas websites. They actually have quite a few offers or discounts and I usually find them cheaper than Clarks if you find a pair in the sale.

Yes sports direct website that’s where I buy for my son.

Mountain Warehouse online has decent children's trainers

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 04/02/2021 22:35

And also JD sports are having a lot of sale on trainers

I mostly use M and M direct for trainers for DS even when shops are open. A friend recommended it a couple of years ago and it's saved me a fortune since, great prices.

Clarks children's range go right up to adult sizes. I really wouldn't risk non-fiitted shoes or trainers for an 8 year-old unless your budget is really tight and no alternative. Clarks seconds shops are great. I would skimp on clothing to buy decent shoes.

Decathlon. Some of the walking shoes are better for this time of year as they're a bit more solid.

Some helpful links, thank you

Order a foot gauge from ebay and measure him yourself then order online from any decent shoeshop or sports/outdoor shop.

DSes age 10 and 8 have trainers from Skechers and more solid and waterproof ankle boots from Go Outdoors currently (plus wellies and pointless school shoes Hmm)

user686233 · 04/02/2021 22:57

My 7 year old is in wellies if going to the park as it's so muddy. But I recently got some hiking trainers from Decathlon too for when it's less muddy in the spring. Next often have leather trainers.

Sports Direct or Adidas website. I don't think I would put an 8yo in Clark's. I think by age 4/5 most boys I know were in Adidas/Nike or similar. DS is quite sporty tho so has always wanted ones he thinks are cool.

Something like Vans or Converse are also nice & Schuh kids have loads to choose from.

BikeRunSki · 04/02/2021 23:09

Decathlon, they come up a bit small.
