It's only taken a year! There has been no reason, bar a few medical emergencies, for people to fly(sail) in and out of the UK, yet the government still let people do so despite all medical evidence against it to prevent infection.

You got relatives overseas? Do what people did a few decades ago and post letters or pay for expensive phone calls, they managed.

PFB finding themselves travelling whilst living off mummy & daddy's credit card? - Tell them to grow up and fend for themselves.

Want to go on a selfish holiday to an exotic beach whilst polluting the atmosphere and disrupting the local culture? Tough shit.

My husband's father died of Covid abroad in April. My DH was just able to make it out to see him before he died. But yeah, maybe he should have sent a letter and hope it arrived at the hospital. Tough shit if it didn't.

OP, have you reflected why you are so aggressive and bitter?

Maybe try and get some help with your SEMH or counselling to unpick your motivation for what you do?

Before Christmas, before the lockdown I went to see family in Germany for 5 days, the infection rate was 19/100k. We drove and didn't stop once.

Given how low the risk of infection was there and how high it was in London I thought it was hilarious that we had to isolate, we followed the rules of course but simply going to the supermarket here is more risky and a lot of places overseas are actually safer than the UK.

I don't get the post, what are you trying to say? Lock us up on this island?

Yep. I live in a small country and the government closed the airports immediately; only residents were allowed back in and even then they had to quarantine in a hotel for 14 days - this was last April.

I think you are over simplifying the situatation massivily and have some over enthustastic 'You're only allowed out for an hour!!!!' mindset.

Absolutely this

I don't understand why people are so blinkered.
Maybe only reason OP would travel in & out of UK is holidaying, but people enter UK for all sorts of business & other reasons.

Entire UK oil extraction & gas processing sector is heavily dependent on overseas workers, for instance. Hauliers in and out a lot , too, and they don't just stay in their vehicles the whole time, either.
