Why would you?

OP posts:
BasiliskStare · 04/02/2021 16:14

To be fair to them - they have got the problem most people would have in the main photograph rather than hiding it & mentioned in the particulars. Saves time when people who won't like that may come and view and just wasting everyone's time . Sorry if missing your point about "why would you "

Whaddayathink · 04/02/2021 16:16

Patronising much?
Because bungalows are desirable for the infirm, elderly and future providers
Because someones options are limited
Because not everyone has the finance to live in swathes of green belt

Any numbers or reasons really. A better question would be:

Be a year about their home - why would you?Hmm

Whaddayathink · 04/02/2021 16:17

Twat autocorrected to year there, obviously

HappyTimeTunnelDinosaur · 04/02/2021 16:20

It's not for me, but it isn't the end of the world, the bungalow looks good and it's a bit of a talking point too.

Nonamesavail · 04/02/2021 16:22

Still over budget for me lol

titchy · 04/02/2021 16:24

Why would you what? Mention the pylon? Buy a house with a pylon?

Why would YOU post and why refer to it as a climbing frame? Confused

ramblingsonthego · 04/02/2021 16:29

At least they are honest! We went and viewed 2 houses where they were eight behind the house but photos taken at such an angle you didn't notice until viewing.

StringyPotatoes · 04/02/2021 16:30

Am I the only one who spent far too long looking for an actual climbing frame?

TableFlowerss · 04/02/2021 16:32

Not for me I’m afraid. Looks too close for comfort!!

I did that too. I was like that sounds awesome. I even thought have they put on climbing frame on the tower. Blush
Idocaredoyou · 04/02/2021 16:43

What a bitchy thing to post OP. I hope that this gives them publicity for it and that you feel an ounce of shame for sneering so publicly.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/02/2021 16:52

Wouldn't bother me. Presumably they get some money for having it there.

ChocOrange1 · 04/02/2021 16:53

What do you expect them to do? Never move house? Throw a tarp over it and hope the buyers don't notice? Some people wouldn't be bothered by this as presumably it reduces the value, so they would get more house for their money.

Zofloratheexplorer · 04/02/2021 16:55

I have a pilon outside my front window. I don't care although that's probably why it's a rental Grin

Mochudubh · 04/02/2021 17:06

I have a phobia of pylons so it's a definite "no" for me. I'd struggle to even visit someone who lived there.

Forestdweller11 · 04/02/2021 17:29

If its in their garden they might get money for it. There might be plans to go underground with the cables. This happened to our neighbours.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/02/2021 18:02

Well a pylon that big is Hight Voltage and I would guess it is this that OP is referring to...
substation-health-risks.co.uk/what-are-the-health-risks-of-living-near-pylons/

It appears the power lines cross right over the house. If you stand close to a High Voltage pylon you can often hear a loud humming noise. Hmm

Saz12 · 04/02/2021 18:03

Well, of course you could just go to your money-tree to buy a house without compromises.

CriticalWoman · 04/02/2021 18:07

Pylons scare me. I watched a drama as a child where strange things happened to people if they walked past them and I've been scared since.

larrythelizard · 04/02/2021 18:07

I don't know the area, could be an absolute steal because of the pylon in the garden?

Wouldn't be for me though.

BasiliskStare · 04/02/2021 18:27

@ChocOrange1 "throw tarp over it" - That made me laugh - In that I thought of DH & I trying to get a tarp over the pylon and saying to each other - "just hold the edges round will you & why can't you get it over the top - "because I am not fucking tall enough - any other helpful questions "

More helpful, I think the vendors and the EA have done exactly the right thing by pointing out what some people would immediately dismiss. I don't know the area so whether the house is priced accordingly for the pylon - I just don't know - but good for them for saying it up front. I once went to see a lovely ( in the photographs ) house , but they really had taken the photo so as to hide the horridness. I wish they had just been honest so as not to get people's hopes up or to waste people's time.

ZenNudist · 04/02/2021 21:39

Fun sponges out in force. Gather you are being flippant. I too would never. Cancer risk and pylons freak me out. Plus it takes up the garden.

There's a lovely house opposite the petrol station near me and I could never live there either as I have an irrational fear the petrol station might blow up .

#sanity

PurpleM · 05/02/2021 01:18

Well as its a bungalow, an elderly buyer maybe less concerned about any potential health risk or noise. Saves on buying a gazebo just string that tarp up in the middle!

SherryPalmer · 05/02/2021 01:23

How is it a bungalow?? It’s got two bedrooms upstairs.
