Why would you?

@longjohnlewis
Pylon, if you look at Google maps you can deduce the narrow path of the pylon and wires. I suspect a developer later decided they could squeeze something in the space and no-one would notice...
... and if you have a head for heights a fantastic washing line.

HettieMillia · 05/02/2021 19:46

I'd be worried about the health risk. But if there were no risks and the house was cheaper because of it, then I'd consider it. It's a nice house.

Beaniecats · 05/02/2021 20:00

No definitely not

LongJohnLewis · 05/02/2021 20:17

You’re a better map reader than me Two. I looked and saw the wires. Thought it was odd as I haven’t seen wires on a map before. Then realised it was a crack on my phone screen.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 05/02/2021 20:23

Stick giant googly eyes on it 👀 Make it friendly. Solved.

Twinkie01 · 05/02/2021 20:36

XHs weird Uncle had a pylon for in his garden. Sounded as though a swarm of bees were constantly circling. He was weird before he moved there though don't think the pylon did it to him!

ICouldHaveCheckedFirst · 05/02/2021 20:38

A house with a pylon came up when we were looking for a house. We didn't view it, despite the humungous garden, which we would have liked. We bought nearby instead.
Then the electricity company removed the pylon, leaving a huge garden 😬

userxx · 05/02/2021 20:42

Few hanging baskets attached and you'd hardly notice it.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 05/02/2021 20:44

Because they pay good money to have them on your land! Ndn have a telegraph pole in there's & get £400 a year, so I imagine it's a good amount for the a pylon. Very rarely they ask for access (around once a decade). Although the idea of lightening strikes would worry me with a pylon.

Saz12 · 06/02/2021 00:10

My DF has a small power cable thingy (not a proper pylon) on a field. He got around £3 every 8 years ground rental for it.

Girlyracer · 06/02/2021 00:18

I am amazed and can't get my head around how it ended up in the garden. I literally have never seen anything like this.

I'm shocked some people think it is a normal type of compromise, like if the bathroom is too small, or if there's no storage space? Normal compromise don't feature an enormous pylon towering in your back garden!

Wow!

Scarby9 · 06/02/2021 00:20

@CriticalWoman 1970s - The Changes?
That gave me a lifelong fear of pylons too.

Aria999 · 06/02/2021 01:19

@StringyPotatoes

Am I the only one who spent far too long looking for an actual climbing frame?
Yeah me too 🤣
CriticalWoman · 07/02/2021 14:38

Yes it was! Although I didn't know it was called that until I googled it just now.
