Why would you?

Never mind the pylon, I wouldn't pay that much for a bungie in fareham

pumpkinbump · 05/02/2021 03:15

I was actually looking at the garden picture for a climbing frame, took me a while to notice the pylon. But no, I couldn't have that. Look at the price of it too!

Kljnmw3459 · 05/02/2021 03:28

Goodness that is very close. Good that the photos show it clearly so there are no surprises to anyone. I was hoping for an actual climbing frame.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/02/2021 05:15

Indeed. Unlike when this cottage was sold and the adjacent nuclear power station didn't feature in any of the photos, but if you look at the satellite images, it's literally right next door to it.

Redruby2020 · 05/02/2021 09:04

Yes I guess at least it has been mentioned lol, I mean it would be silly for them not to mention it, it's not like it's a small detail is it. I guess at least it is somewhere to hang the washing 🤣😵

Saz12 · 05/02/2021 09:21

You’d think that anyone looking at a house where the address is “Dungeness Bay” would figure out there’s a power station nearby. And I’m guessing crime is low....!
A former colleague of mine went to see a lovely cottage with big garden a few years ago, listed as having “countryside views”. Realised when they got there that it was completed surrounded by an industrial estate.

Bluntness100 · 05/02/2021 09:26

Surprised at some of these responses, or those who apparantly didn’t notice the fuck off big pylon immediately.

Yeah that wouldn’t be for me either op.

EvilPea · 05/02/2021 09:31

Being too near electricity stuff makes my teeth, ear and head hurt.

So not for me. But I’m not sure quite how you’d hide it. It is what it is and priced accordingly.

Mybeautifulwinycette · 05/02/2021 12:07

Feel better for laughing and sneering at the owners now OPHmm.
Just why WOULD YOU?

steppemum · 05/02/2021 12:11

AGENTS NOTE Please be advised that within the boundary of this property namely the back garden there is a electricity pylon

? really, I hadn't noticed Grin

Is a it your house? She’s clearly not laughing and sneering at the owners, what an extreme over reaction,
steppemum · 05/02/2021 12:14

I wouldn't buy it because of health risks assciated with pylons.
But the bigger question is how did it get like that?

What came first, the house or the pylon.
If the house, why woudl they plan a line of pylons like that?
if the pylon, why woudl a builder arraneg it like this?
Why wasn't it desinged/built so the pylon is on neutral ground behind/outside the garden?

It just seems like the weirdest planning decision

AlisonWhatsTheMatter · 05/02/2021 12:17

It wouldn’t be for me either.

AlisonWhatsTheMatter · 05/02/2021 12:18

It really does seem like a weird planning decision, presuming the pylon was already there.

Mybeautifulwinycette · 05/02/2021 12:27

Why would you?
What time should this be read in then?
And yes, I do know the owners.

Mybeautifulwinycette · 05/02/2021 12:27

Tone, not time for clarity

Bluntness100 · 05/02/2021 12:33

@Mybeautifulwinycette

Clearly why would you want to live in a house that has a pylon dominating your garden and is literally feet from your back door.

And the question is valid. Why would you, it’s an eyesore and it’s a potential health risk,

user1493494961 · 05/02/2021 12:36

I would worry about the health risk. I also wondered about the planning aspect.

SlopesOff · 05/02/2021 12:45

At least you can see it is there.

We once wasted time on a long journey to find that there was a sub station in the garden.

squashyhat · 05/02/2021 12:57

At least it would be easy to give directions to the housewarming party Grin

EvilPea · 05/02/2021 13:58

Please tell me the house is on electric avenue

steppemum · 05/02/2021 14:22

Redruby2020 · 05/02/2021 18:23

@squashyhat 🤣🤣

Redruby2020 · 05/02/2021 18:27

@Saz12 🤣🤣 I've read similar descriptions in the past, not so much the countryside views one though. If it wasn't so necessary, I mean in terms of the desperate search sometimes, when looking for accommodation, it could almost be quite fun, I like looking at the pictures and some of the things I have seen when viewing or rather realised it is not as described has been quite funny.

LongJohnLewis · 05/02/2021 18:34

Do you think the pylon was there first, or the bungalow?
