However much it ‘changes’ it will remain a dictatorship built on modern slavery.

Did you know that most of Dubai does not have a sewage system? Those chains of sewage suckers you see at festivals or after floods are well-hidden behind those shiny skyscrapers - they have massive tanks in them to hold what sewage isn't dumped in the sea...

It's possible there is more infrastructure now but its still an issue.

If that was the only thing wrong, but it's not.

For those slating it, do you not recognise that it isn't legal for that language to be used? Least their youth of today are better mannered than here, including the kids of expats!

Just live by the law and you'll be fine. I love Dubai, not for everyone which I get but just be a decent human and respect their rules!

I had a boy from UAE stay with me as a language student once. The agency swore never to take UAE kids again as they were the MOST entitled, rude, bratty kids any of us had ever come across. This kid had no manners, no respect and no interest in learning any. He ended up throwing a strop because I had made chicken and rice for his dinner and refused to make him soup instead, didn't talk to me for 3 days until he got moved. It took 3 days because nobody wanted an extra one, they were all so rude.

I love Dubai and have a house there, but that isn't my experience of young locals at all.

Older locals, who remember how hard life used to be are usually very nice.

Many younger locals, who can only remember great wealth and privilege from the government and housemaids catering to their every whim, are incredibly arrogant and entitled. Not all, by any means, but many.

We're intending to spend a lot of time there when retired, but there's no denying the place has its faults.

Oh god I be arrested/deported straight away then given I use the word fuck in pretty much every sentence I speak. The word fuck has definitely been used far more times than it should have today when my car was skidding towards railings and a lamppost and narrowly missing the wagon in the opposite direction as my car shot across the other side of the road. Sure that poor driver shat himself as much as I did not knowing if we were both going to hit each other. Somehow managed to skim along the side of him and ended up millimetres away from a lamppost instead with the words fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck and then a couple oh thanks fuck for that. Put my hazards on, phoned work and sat and cried for a bit before composing myself and repeating the same razzmatazz all over again. Nearly dumped the bloody car in the snow and walked
