No interest in visiting that place.

UnityUnited · 04/02/2021 20:41

Domestic violence is legal in the UAE. That tells me everything I need to know.

Idocaredoyou · 04/02/2021 20:44

Im guessing only one way though

tootyfruitypickle · 04/02/2021 20:51

I started watching travel man about Dubai and felt physically sick at the obsession over money and how expensive everything was, and ugly, and had to turn off

user1465423698 · 04/02/2021 20:51

There's a lot of scare mongering but I rarely here of anything as bad as sexual assault over here it is a rarity

Well, obviously, because if you report being sexually assaulted you go to prison. Good way to silence victims. Hmm

Idocaredoyou · 04/02/2021 20:54

If everything is ok till it's not, then it's not ok

caligulascatharsis · 04/02/2021 20:56

Did you know we can now live unmarried??? Was that posted over there in the papers?

Wow! Living unmarried, just imagine. That makes me feel so much better about all the raping and domestic violence and the idea of being owned by men.

RJnomore1 · 04/02/2021 21:05

I bet you rarely hear of sexual assault 🤔 I’ll just have a think why that is. Oh hang on...

HeronLanyon · 04/02/2021 21:06

Well i just looked at amnesty site to find out current laws and human rights situation in UAE. I will continue never to travel there.
Bye for some bizarre reason (think it was the recent ‘influencers going to Dubai stories’ I looked at property on the palm to see what it was like and what it cost. I was shocked at the sea/beach set-up. The bits between the ‘fronds’ look like stagnant really shallow ponds - they didn’t actually look very swimmable. V odd.

@Sammydil

No worries , i have the same rights as a man here . Though of course as in every country it would always depend who you are actually coming up against and what there status is be it woman or man. There's a lot of scare mongering but I rarely here of anything as bad as sexual assault over here it is a rarity . Just like I would leave my new phone and bag on a table and have no harm walking away from it and know it would still be there when I got back .
Kind of like there are apparently no gay men in Chechnya.
dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 04/02/2021 21:13

@Bleughbleughbleugh12

I’d never go to a country where I could go to prison for being raped because it was my fault alluring him in.
I agree. I am the same. I only tend to holiday in democratic countries with the odd exception.
HeronLanyon · 04/02/2021 21:18

Well I’m assuming there are no gay men or women in the UAE as it carries the death penalty which includes stoning.

Staffy1 · 04/02/2021 21:22

What an arse of a roommate. No wonder they were sworn at.
Another reason not to live there is the attitude towards single women. My very successful friend lived there for a couple of years, but said she hated the way she was looked down on and said men would even spit at women walking in the street on their own.

blowinahoolie · 04/02/2021 21:22

F*CK that for a game of soldiersHmm

Mybeautifulwinycette · 04/02/2021 21:32

Is it just Egypt where it's considered v offensive to say the mother's actual name?

icanboogieboogiewoogie · 04/02/2021 21:41

The very existence of Dubai is significantly harming the planet. There is not a drop of natural water in the place. All these bloody swimming pools require desalination.

UnityUnited · 04/02/2021 21:44

And air conditioning to keep the tourists cool.

your first sentence made me snort. Do you REALLY think you have the same rights as a man there? Fuck me, you’re in for a shock if you step out of line. Or if you get raped
Sheleg · 05/02/2021 01:10

Dubai is 15% locals and 85% sugar daddies and YouTube influencers/escorts.

ILikeToMoveItMoveItILikeToMove · 05/02/2021 01:45

I wouldn’t go there if you paid me, literally any amount of money.
The slave labour, appalling human rights abuses, damage to the environment, unfettered consumerism and monstrosity buildings. What’s not to hate.

AllMyPrettyOnes · 05/02/2021 05:34

Did you know we can now live unmarried???

Oh that's alright then Hmm

TheAirbender · 05/02/2021 05:39

I live in Dubai, it has loads of things wrong, lots of things right and is changing FAST

AllMyPrettyOnes · 05/02/2021 05:41

Some very defensive people here ...

Sarahandco · 05/02/2021 06:10

Looks like a fun place, but much better to be a man.
