Does anyone else take a sniff of dental floss after use?

I have a question.

Does anyone else take a sniff of dental floss after flossing their teeth?

There was a lock time where I never flossed but I am now. I also like to carry floss with me every where. Every day is different. I might floss after breakfast, and after lunch and at night time or sometimes it might be 2 times a day or other times it might me once a day.

I take a sniff of the floss and it smells of death. Its smells bad.

I'm terrified my breath smells of this.

I work hard on my oral care hygiene and routine even coming down to my diet. I do so much with dental health in mind.

I limit sugars. Breakfast is usually eggs and veg. I take a vitamin or two too. I drink coffer through a straw. Lunchbis different every day. It might be mashed veg, or soup or cucumber and tuna. I always drink water throughout the day and after meals. If I have anything with carbs or sugar, I have an xylitol dental mint afterwards.

I use an electric toothbrush twice a day. I mouth tape at night to stop sleeping with my mouth open and to prevent a dry mouth in the morning.

I do so much with oral hygiene in mind. I was never this great though. The floss smells bad after use.

Yes, I thought I was the only one. It smells vile! I'm really thorough with dental hygiene like you so I don't know why it smells so awful !

It starts off smelling bad, but after flossing regularly I didn't think it should?

It smells like the taste of raw cauliflower to me.

Yes, I do. How often do you have hygienist appointments? Sounds like gum disease (to my non expert but equally obsessed self!)

I go twice a year for cleanings.

Yes, my dental floss smells gross after use too.

I do after a dentist in Embarrassing Bodies said to do so. It proves that bacteria and food debris get ground down and lodged in between the teeth and areas a toothbrush will never reach, in spite of how good it promises to be. So flossing is a must.

Maybe go for a hygienist session and ask them about gum disease?

I'm sure you're fine - it smells bad, but it's on the floss not in your mouth, so you've got rid of the nasty stuff and can throw it away.

Maybe try a mouthwash if you really worry about food residue in your mouth? A vigorous swill can get places even floss can't Smile
