There's also one where you put a cucumber behind them when they're not looking, and when they see it they leap into the air.

Also one where you scratch your nail across a comb and it makes them heave.

I have tried none of these. Probably because I cracked long ago

I sometimes say "alexa, miaow" to confuse the cats.

I just woke one of mine up to yawn at him. He looks a bit pissed off.

Our old cat made different sounds depending on where on her back or tail you touched.

I try not to yawn in front of the guinea pigs because showing teeth is a dominant behaviour.
They have no qualms about flashing their gnashers at me, but I know my place as a piggy slave.

Yep, I meow & mip at mine & she responds. I also "growl yawn" at the dog (Golden Retriever), she replies too. The answers I get are far more sensible than those Dh & the dc give

My worry about meowing at my cat was always that I don't know if what I've said is inappropriate. Sometimes, judging by the cat's expression, I think it probably was.
