Has magnesium helped your with sleep/insomnia

If so what brand, would love a link if possible and how long did it take to start working?

I have taken it in the past but didnt notice any effects but there seems to be so many different types, chelate, glycinate, citrate etc. so hard to choose which is best.

I've been using magnesium body lotion at bedtime for the last four nights, and it does seem to be helping me to sleep better: I haven't woken up in the early hours and struggled to go back to sleep, as I normally would.
I bought the Better You Magnesium Sleep Body Lotion from Amazon: you only need 5ml, and a little really does go a long way; I've been applying to arms and legs.
I didn't fancy taking oral supplements, as I'd read that they can cause digestive upset.

I would like to know the answer to this too because there are so many options on Amazon and a lot are very expensive! I have my eye on a gummy form on Amazon but its £40Shock - i struggle to swallow big capsules.

I think it has some benefits but isn't any form of miracle cure, for me at least. I don't take tablets due to gastric issues but I've used the spray before, found it stung/caused itching which wasn't conducive to a nights sleep. I do like epsom/magnesium bath salts though, in a hot bath shortly before bed.

So hard to know which one to buy, there are so many and I know you can't really trust Amazon reviews 100%.

There was a Better You one in Daily Mail but that was an advert too.

If you need to watch your costs, I'd avoid it as it's just an expensive night of no more sleep.

Epsom salts are cheaper and you could do a foot bath if you don't want a bath.

Magnesium oil spray is easy to make (google home made magnesium oil) and much cheaper than buying ready made.

I use Magnesium glycinate which is meant to be the best absorbed and easiest on the stomach.

I think it works in addition to other things. I also do yoga nidra, meditate, exercise and take other supplements.

I use Magnesium Taurate ( Cardio vascular research brand) it can be expensive ( ie Amazon is astronomical) but if you shop around it can be much cheaper. Think I got it from a company called I herb the last time I bought it and it was much cheaper. (Around £22 for 180 tablets.)

I have suffered with insomnia for years and this stuff has been nothing short of miraculous. Also found it has calmed my palpitations/ ectopic heart beats ( benign but very annoying.)

I take magnesium glycinate which is the most recommended for sleep plus I have some additional magnesium 365 which is recommended on the protocol on the FB group I am on. I take this during the day, when I remember.

Magnesium doesn't knock me out but it does mean I am more relaxed when I go to be which helps my sleep, (most nights although I still have the occasional bad one). A month or so ago I added Ashwanga to my supplements and that has helped further.

except I now buy the 480 packs as better value. (I also gradually built up to 4 caps per night)

The mag365 is on the vitamin D protocol on FB as mag is a cofactor to ensure you get the best from vitamin D.

Magnesium has definitely helped with my sleep. I've had trouble for decades but in the 3 months I've been taking it I've been so very much better. I'm in a regular sleep pattern and more relaxed in general.

I've tried everything else out there before now...with little effect. [Zolpidem works but I only take one when in a bad way as GP restricts them, rightly so].

I use the Better You Sleep lotion at night after a hot shower. The lotion doesn't sting like the spray does. I rub it all over - concentrating on any areas where I retain tension. When I get into bed I rub it on the soles of my feet, which feels amazing. It's not a miracle cure, but it has improved the quality of my sleep dramatically.

I tried tablets but they upset my stomach.

How long did it take before you slept better, I assume its not like a sleeping tablet where you take in at hour before bed and you sleep that night. Does it have to build up over days or even weeks?

Thanks for the links, I will have a look but prefer capsules to tablets.
