3 day wholefood “cleanse” - accountability thread

I’m overweight. I have food intolerances that I pretend I don’t have (wheat/gluten). I have really low mood. And I’m certain a big chunk of it is diet related (before kids I was a “clean eater” 90% of the time for 4 years... that went out the window after DS was born and I became an LP...)

Long story short I’ve gone from a size 10 to a size 14/16, my hair and skin have gone to shit, and I’m bloated like I’m 6 months pregnant.

Not looking for a quick fix, but a short sharp shock to remind myself how much better I feel when I eat properly. So I’m doing a 3 day (maybe will extend it) “wholefood cleanse” which I’ve entirely made up to suit me Grin

Rules are basically:

  • no refined carbohydrates (pasta, bread, etc) or sugars (biscuits, cake etc)
  • no alcohol
  • cook everything from scratch
  • salt okay in small amounts
  • dairy okay in small amounts (ie milk in coffee, one piece of cheese per day for snack)
  • non wheat whole grain/pulses is fine in unlimited amounts - wholegrain rice, chickpeas, lentils
  • 8 glasses of water per day
  • start the day with lemon and hot water
  • no limit on amount of fruit, veg and clean protein (had signs of a burgeoning ED before DS so I can’t calorie count/restrict- I like it too much)
  • take my vitamins!

Just starting a thread so I have some accountability (but it isn’t My Fitness Pal, which has taken me to dark places in the past...)

I’ll be accountable to myself then Grin

Breakfast/mid morning snack - hot water and lemon, large apple, tablespoon whole peanut butter, strawberries.

Lunch- will be avocado salad with balsamic and oil dressing

Afternoon snack- slice Brie and grapes

Dinner- homemade chicken saag, made with coconut milk, chicken thighs and rice.

That all sounds delicious!

I started my healthy eating last week and after 5 days I got such a burst of energy, I felt better than I had in ages.
Trying to keep it going and may have to steal some of your ideas.

no veg? Strawberries in February will be horrible.

'cleanse' is probably putting people off as it is a diet scam term. Just 'normal eating' adjusted for your intolerance. Hope you feel better when you are off the gluten.

@murbblurb

Who said no veg?

Avocado salad (avocado, toms, rocket, cucumber, peppers)- 5 vegetables
Chicken saag is made with tonnes of spinach, onions and tomatoes - 2-3 vegetables

Strawberries were fine, thanks - it's q temperate in Morocco this time of year....

(pls don't condescend. I put "cleanse" in quotation marks as a nod to the fact it's nonsense)
