Empty nest

First night with both my boys having left home and I am feeling sad/ strange/ lost. They have left before to go to uni but have always come back so this is permanent. Just us 2 oldies rattling around the house now.
I wonder how long it will be before this empty nest syndrome will fade.

I hear you. My three boys have been coming and going for a while over the last few years, but the eldest two moved out probably permanently last week. Youngest is 23 and still around while he has to be. It's hard isn't it? I know I still have one at home but I can't shake that feeling of sadness and emptiness.

DramaAlpaca It sure is sad, meanwhile DH has been asleep for a few hours while I am still awake.
Is it something that us mums feel more? I wonder if we’re wired up differently.

Definitely. DH is absolutely fine about it, and is also fast asleep. I miss the noise, the chats, the comings and goings - even the fridge raiding Grin

It's a few months on, how are things now if you don't mind me asking?

I would be interested to hear that too!
