Please recommend me some apps that I can kill my evening boredom with? I know it’s exactly what I shouldn’t be doing and I should be doing something worthy with my time, but DP and I have watched everything we want to watch on Netflix and I just want to waste some time in between DS4’s bedtime and my own bedtime. I’m trying to stay off social media after 8pm, but anything else is greatly appreciated!!

Tiktok. It gets a bad rep on here but if you're an adult it's an absolute thief of time. To the point where I can't just randomly open it when I get a notification because I'll lose an hour Grin

Ilovemaisie · 03/02/2021 18:50

Not an app but I can waste hours on Google Earth looking up places all over the world. It's great fun finding places you've been too, places you have always wanted to go to. Finding strange shape builds all over the place. Great fun.

I’ve avoided tiktok because I assumed it was for young people, but perhaps tonight will be the night that I give it a go!

Google earth sounds like a good idea, although it might just make me hideously jealous that no one can travel anywhere at the moment GrinGrin

I’m well over 40 and lose hours on TikTok

Figmentofimagination · 03/02/2021 18:57

I play games like water connect and flow water. Easy to pick up and put down, no worries about time limits or helping others, not complicated to understand. I'm currently on level 417 on water connect.

AlohaMolly · 03/02/2021 18:59

I’ve downloaded tiktok and water connect now Grin

Scrabble go (tho you have to enjoy scrabble! Grin) lost hours to it randomly playing strangers and playing in the timed tournaments - pretty sure I could whoop someone’s butt now if called upon to play the real game!

Happylittlethoughts · 03/02/2021 19:11

If you like Google Earth then you can try Geoguesser.... it gives you a Google earth photo and you've got to work out where it is . You get points fr how close you get etc. Addictive😁

Happylittlethoughts · 03/02/2021 19:17

That's GeoGuessr by the way, just Google it.
Also try Zooniverse, which is data from an amazing variety of projects around the world. They opening to us to help sort.Ive done everything from identify galaxies to transcribe Anti slavery letters. Love it!!

Someone on here mentioned Redecor on here the other day. I had a quick look and now I’m hooked! There are interior design challenges and duels, and I can while away hours on it. Every wall in my real life house is painted white but I can run amok on there.

Breathmiller · 03/02/2021 20:00

Do you like jigsaws? I have a constant online jigsaw going on and it passes the time. I can listen to podcasts at the same time on my headphones.

Its called Jigsaw Puzzle

angelopal · 03/02/2021 20:01

Plants v zombies is a good game.

Champagneforeveryone · 03/02/2021 20:14

Mortifyingly I have lost hours of my life on Happy Colour, a sort of painting by numbers type app. DS says it's the sort of thing young teenage girls would be into, but I care not a jot Grin

MolyHolyGuacamole · 03/02/2021 20:25

Honestly, the app you describe is Mumsnet for me 😂 I have to force myself off of it

HunterAngel · 03/02/2021 20:29

Homescapes. It’s a game like candy crush but every level wins a star which you use to renovate the house. Luckily there’s a five lives limit it I’d never put it down!

Aisforharlot · 03/02/2021 20:41

Tiktok is hilarious!

Afromeg · 04/02/2021 18:58

I'm dying at your name @Aisforharlot
That is beautifully hilarious!

Thanks OP for this thread and also thanks to posters for the suggestions here. Just downloaded Water connect and Flow water - been wanting easy games like those just as you @figmentofimagination mentioned, without all the extra stuff I have to do to play.

Saving the thread so I can look at the other suggestions when I need more.
