Well as a student I rented some howffs, carpeted walls, neon bar in living room
Stayed in friends parents house they had tartan wallpaper
The red house sound like Edgar Allan Poe themed

Absolutely anything my DH suggests.

None really. My friends have very different tastes to me

One has everything white, inc the furniture.
One has everything colourful, inc a fushia pink room and a pea green one
One loves brown and cream everywhere and loves a shiny brown leather sofa.

It’s a bit dodgey to be honest, but more just not to my taste. 😄

A house I've always adored (the exterior) went up for sale recently, so I had a sneaky snoop online.

The interior was pretty much royal blue everything... walls, tiles, carpet etc.
I wouldn't describe it as awful, just ... surprising. And very loud.

Funnily enough, the owner was an artist with impeccable taste and talent. She was obviously a big fan of blue.

I remember viewing a house once. One room was vivid orange, another lime green and silver, another royal blue and silver and i don’t mean a nice grey i mean a full on metallic silver. It was the most bizarre house. Every room was a headache inducing bold colour.

Time40 · 02/02/2021 22:40

... that thing sitting on the side of the bath is a statue of see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil .... frogs.

MOD housing. Some of it has to be seen to be believed.

My personal favourite was the house with green carpet, green curtains and green sofas. But slightly different shades, so it clashed. The other furniture was dark brown.

Mostly it's just hideous curtains, magnolia woodchip and dull carpets. And the obligatory sinks in the bedrooms.

Xoxoxoxoxoxox · 02/02/2021 22:44

Time40 that is a sight to behold.

This hotel bathroom in Scotland:
Ha haa complete with dip-dye effect on ceramic!
Cocolapew · 02/02/2021 22:46

My MIL house when I first got together with DH. Everything clashed, patterned sofa, patterned carpet and metalic wallpaper that looked like a magic eye picture. It would give you a headache if you stayed in it too long.
The only taste she has is in her month

ElizaLaLa · 02/02/2021 22:46

I was just thinking tonight that I'd like a sink in the bedroom 😂

I needed to wash my face and was too lazy to walk the 4-5 steps to the bathroom. I may or may not have used a face wipe instead 😩

Gcnq · 02/02/2021 22:54

Ok not "dodgy" exactly because they really did try... A couple I knew bought a lovely home in a "cottagey" area with wooden window frames and windowsills, carpets coloured but in a normal way, a basically normal nice house.

They decide they wanted it "minimalist" and I kid you not they opted for white carpets, white walls everywhere, even painted the lovely wooden window frames white! They rejected cupboards and just had bare metal hanging poles.
Ok looks fine maybe before you hang all your stuff on the rail, directing all attention to your huge collection of jeans and Uniqlo tops?

Why buy a house in the suburbs and do that? The nightmare keeping it all clean and white I can't imagine.

But I forgive them and can't be too harsh because it was their first time buying a House and they were obviously keen to make their mark!

I actually grew up with a sink in my bedroom, and never appreciated what a blessing it was untill I left home and have never had one since Sad

Odd that you've changed your mind since your other thread.
HurricaneBitch · 02/02/2021 23:09

I viewed a house where the woman fancied herself as an artist and had hand painted murals in every room and all doors had the room name on them too. Big hand painted suns, flowers etc. God, it was awful.

StarsonaString · 02/02/2021 23:21

I stayed in an AirBnB which had a variety of quirks. One being ostentatious taxidermy EVERYWHERE. Not just ornaments, most of the utilitarian things like tray for water glasses, fruit bowl, loo roll holder etc had taxidermy incorporated in some way. I'm hard as nails and even I was slightly perturbed.
