Roller skates / roller blades - anyone have some?

Both DH and I would love to start roller skating again

I say again, it’s been at least 20 years since we last did it

I fancy some quads and he wants inlines

Are we mad? Will people think we are bonkers?

There’s not much else to do and thought it might be fun

I bought some but I've had a couple of painful falls onto my arse. I'm a bit paranoid now I need a bum cushion and some wrist guards and pads. It had been more than 30 years since I'd been on skates. I bought quads.

I've got some inlines. I can move in them without too much humiliation. My main issue is that I live in a hilly area with rough pavements that are well worn Grin

I have both. It's fun but not as good as I expected. I used to live in my quads when I was younger.

I just got mine out if the loft a couple of weeks ago after getting some for the kids. Been watching YouTube videos to try to learn some new tricks (recommend Nicole fiore, dirty school of skate, estro jen and indy jammer jones for tutorials) . Not had a chance to get outside with them yet but love skating round the house!

I have just turned 48. I lived in skates as a teen and have always wanted to take it up again. So today I received a pair of quads, padded shorts and protection pads. Put them on in kitchen for a trial and am now terrified ha ha. I have fibro which means I'm always in pain so wondering if should have waited until the swimming pools are open again ha ha. We kept horses for many years and I know that when riding if you tense up it affects balance etc. I found myself instantly tensing. Need to practice on carpet first I think 😄

i have rollerskates, bought them about 10 years ago new from ebay, only used them a handful of times but planning on getting out on them when the better weather comes

I bought some inlines the other week, I am going to try them out on the corridor upstairs (carpet) until I feel ok on them.

Very fashionable at the moment, apparently there's a waiting list for some brands of roller skates! My daughter's taken it up. She has quads.

I was a skater in my child/teen years, stopped at about 17. Three of my kids skate so when I got a bit pissed last year i asked my mum to bring my old Roces next time she visited. It feels just as amazing as it did then, no falls so far yet, it's like riding a bike. I've got my eye on a beautiful new pair though.

Though, my thighs and are do suffer from the strange muscle usage Grin

I bought some recently, im 40, I thought important my kids seeing me do sport as they are rejecting sport and theres not many sports I like. Decathalon are good for skates. Only problem is skating with kids and scooters and dog in tow and social distancing isnt as easy as it was when I was young! I think go with the plan that its fashionable!

I loved roller blading in my teens and 20s. Would buy again but I want Hypno Skates and they don't make them (detachable wheels that you kick off so can skate then go into a shop!). Get some wrist guards for sure and enjoy!

There are too few decent places to skate outdoors in UK while indoor rinks closed due to You-Know. I'm precious about my wheels though, not keen to get road salt or mud in the bearings.
