Have you ever been to psychic/medium etc

Have you ever had a reading done or similar and did the things the person said happen?
I had one done lastnight which gave me insight and seemed quite accurate but nothing life changing. A few family members 'came through' and said things which were quite specific. My mum said things surrounding her death which couldn't have been guessed and was pretty accurate. The woman also mentioned things about my partner and his personality and traits which was very specific to him. I was told about house, kids travelling etc which could be quite generic but would be interesting to hear if anyone has had an accurate reading.

My friend also had one with the same person and hers was absolutely spot on with a lot of things including relationships, finances, children etc. It could not all have been guessed no way.

Also, this person was a booked through a friend and the person did not even know my name prior to the appointment, so no way should could have looked me up!

Yes. I had one a while ago. A lot rang true but one specific thing had me convinced (and it wasn’t something that I ever talk to people about or refer to on social media).

I have a friend who saw one when she was desperately TTC. Was told with certainty that she’d have twin babies within 5 years. She did. Smile

JimmyTheBrave · 02/02/2021 13:03

Yeah I went to one once, she essentially did that thing where they look at you and 'read' you.

Without sounding like a stealth boast people have often thought I'm younger than I am, so at the time of seeing her I'd finished Uni. She told me I would go on to further education lol.

If he'd gone down a different route, Derren Brown could have marketed himself as a psychic and people would believe he is 'genuine' and probably the best ever.

Years ago I got a jewellery reading. The piece I gave her had no specific history. She was extremely accurate and very specific, so much so I've never felt the need to see another.

How did you pay out of interest?

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 02/02/2021 20:50

Yeah, she told me that very soon I'd be going to the dentist, and that it would be time for my MOT in a few months HmmGrin

Devlesko · 02/02/2021 20:53

There's no harm unless you take it seriously, or are vulnerable and then it's unethical entertainment.
Feel strongly about this.
The law was changed not long ago where we all had to display that it was for entertainment purposes.
I welcome the change because there's no place for charlatons.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 02/02/2021 20:57

I saw a clairvoyant about 11 years ago. He asked me 2 or three questions and they didn’t mean anything to me. He then said if he asked another question and it didn’t mean anything he would have to end the session. I said yes and then really weirdly he moved his body into the same position my disabled brother used to sit in. DB had had some serious strokes so his arm was twisted and he used to hold it with his other hand. DB had died a couple of years earlier as well.

After this I don’t remember him saying much except make sure I book my holiday!

I would like another reading at some point.

bettertimesarecomingnow · 02/02/2021 21:02

Yes I have. I was in a really crappy place and needed something to look forward to.

She told me I would meet my fiancé soon and was quite specific about who he would be. I met him about a month later and he proposed after 9 days which was a total shock.

When I thought back on it; so many of the details were spot on, his son, his age, his family etc

She also warned me off the situation I was in saying it wouldn't do me any good and I listened. I'm so glad I did.

Nishky · 02/02/2021 21:03

I have posted this before but I had a reading where she told me about 4 times to be careful not to get pregnant after the reading she had to unlock the door to let me out and she said it again!

(She meant at that time, in that relationship, not ever)

I would love to know what made her say that!

user1471565182 · 02/02/2021 23:00

Who marries somebody afer 9 days?

And no, nobody has ever been and seen one. A conperson? yes.

harknesswitch · 03/02/2021 08:19

I had one, I took notes and left them in my Christmas box so I'd see them each year. This was back in 2020. I had a read of them again this year and a lot of what she said never came true, but a few, quite specific things did happen. I'd say it was probably about 70/30 in the bullshit stakes.

I think as long as you don't take it seriously and pin your hopes or future on anything it can be a bit of fun

dayswithaY · 03/02/2021 08:27

Yes I've been to a few and one asked me about three different people (who all had unusual names) and other very specific things. I have no explanation for it and I really felt like those people were in the room with us. This was before social media and I only gave her my first name.

Unfortunately, this thread will now be swamped with people telling us all how it's a load of rubbish, we're idiots for believing it, they get all their information from Facebook and why can't they predict next week's lottery numbers.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 03/02/2021 08:46

I went to a psychics meeting for fun with then DP (now DH) when I was 23. She told me I was pregnant. I confirmed it. I was nearly nine months gone and the size of a house at the time Hmm
She asked about various people (woman who looked after me as a child who came from a large family), none of whom existed. Then someone who had a significant war experience. I was nodding then, thinking of my grandfather, but she went on to say something about British flags and proud British or something like that. DGF was Polish!

Sorry, but unless advertised as entertainment, then psychic mediums are charlatans or deluded, and many prey on vulnerable bereaved people. The whole thing is distasteful and ugly; there is no way to communicate with the dead.

HforHavana · 03/02/2021 13:30

There's no denying that there are definitely con artists out there. They say generic things hoping for someone to make a connection with it. But also, the ones who say things that they couldn't possibly have known, how do you explain that?
I am not still not 100% certain and am still a bit sceptical, but there are things that blow my mind and think 'how would they know that!'

OP posts:
DejaVoodoo · 03/02/2021 13:33

For goodness' sake it is not possible for the dead to communicate, either through a so-called 'medium' or otherwise. The clue is in the word dead.

In other news, 'magicians' do not really saw their assistants in half or make cards disappear.

Devlesko · 03/02/2021 19:40

I come from a long line of clairvoyants, my ancestors read for Queen Victoria.
One relative worked Barry Island, another Blackpool.
I put my trust in our book Hocus Pocus and Gypsy Magic.
I read Tarot, Palms, Tea leaves etc.
It's not difficult to say the right things once in a while.
I bet most if not all of you could name the biggest problems people post about on here, they are generic.

Sphagnum · 03/02/2021 19:44

Claiming to be psychic and taking people's money should be illegal.

DejaVoodoo · 03/02/2021 21:37

My lovely granny used to read my tea leaves when I was a child. She told me I'd marry a man whose first initial was 'J'. I did!
Guess she must be clairvoyant, then. Smile

Yes, it's fraud.
