We have always split bedtime up between us with DH putting DD6 to bed and me putting DS8 to bed and then us swapping every other night. DD is in bed by 7pm otherwise she turns into a cranky witch and DS around 8pm. Our routine includes reading them a chapter of their bedtime reading books.

Obviously I appreciate that I won't be doing this when they are older, but can I ask at what age your children start taking themselves to bed? (I should add that DS has started reading David Walliams books on his own so probably doesn't need us for the reading part)
