A counter thread to the entertaining post I have just been reading (worst advice received on MN).

Have you had any golden advice from MN? Whether it be functional advice such as cleaning tips that have proven invaluable to critical life advice such as LTB, that you listened to and are glad that you did?

That nasty emotional abusive men never change.

When DS1 was born he had loads of issues breastfeeding.

I was given brilliant advice by many people and from the wonderful TikTok which stopped me giving up, and gave me the confidence to get the assistance I needed from professionals. I was able to continue for 2 years when I was ready to give up that night. I will always be grateful.

Having bought a derelict home, there is a VAT reduction I was unaware of until I read about it on here. It will likely save us a few £000 overall on the cost of supplies to get the house back to a livable state.

@scrivette yes to TikTok.

I also remember StealthPolarBear giving lovely advice and just being kind. This was YEARS ago (well 13 as I've just established) but my goodness that has stayed with me.

Oh and Haitch regarding Baby Led Weaning!

Always go back to work after maternity leave. I was toying with staying home after my first and I came across a thread where someone was feeling the same. So many stories of people who regretted giving up work. I went back and stayed and advanced and I'm so glad I read that thread and didn't listen to some NCT "friends" who were swaying me to give up work.

I had some really brutal advice in Relationships with a previous account - I wasn’t sure about a new partner and was making excuses for his behaviour in bed. The vipers refused to let me duck the reality of what was happening and we broke up. He took it badly and turned into a stalker. I’m deeply grateful that others could see what I was hiding from. Sometimes LTB is the right call.
