Posting for traffic - LL has "unprotected" my deposit

Got a letter this morning from the deposit protection service he uses stating that my deposit has been "un-protected" by the landlord and that the reason is my tenancy has ended.

However, I have had no notice of termination of my tenancy and haven't signed a new contract. The letting agent changed but that was over 9 months ago.

So as not to drip feed there is an ongoing disrepair dispute that is likely to go to court.

What does all this mean? Where is my deposit now if it's not in the scheme?

Is there a phone number on the letter you can call? I’d call the DPS and tell them your tenancy hasn’t ended and ask where the money is now.

Contact the DPS urgently. Don't sit around wondering abot it, do it right now!

If you are lucky they still have your deposit.

Then again, maybe you are better off if yourlandlord already has your money - greater financial penalty for him!

But do contcat them, right now.

WTF?

Definitely contact DPS. But I'd also be wary it's a scam or the LL trying to spook you - it sounds like a very bizarre thing to do.
