I have spot up my nose

BearSoFair · 01/02/2021 10:47

And it fucking hurts!

From what I can see craning at a mirror it's just a little whitehead, but inside my nostril...it feels huge though! V sore everytime I sniff or blow my nose and I keep wanting to sniff because I can feel it up there.

DH is working so I can't go waltzing over "sympathise at my spotty nose" so I've turned to MN instead.

As if discovering a new chin hair wasn't enough for a Monday morning...

Aren't you tempted to stick a needle in ?

Pieceofpurplesky · 01/02/2021 10:53

Hair grip is your friend

blahblahmeh · 01/02/2021 10:57

Urgh i HATE those. I second a needle, bloody hurts but better once it's done.
I once had one in my ear, ouch! kept pushing it with a cotton bud until it popped and felt much better, pressure went away

Ooh don't tempt me with a needle, I'm exactly the kind of person who would sneeze and give myself an impromptu piercing Grin I wonder if I could use a cotton bud though, if I held my finger against the outside of my nose...might try!

Be careful with anything around the nose. You have lots of blood vessels that go direct into the brain - very easy route for infection to travel.

Also the more you fiddle with, the more likely it is to come back.

Best bet is Magnesium Sulphate paste - which shrinks down the area and draws out any pus or "stuff". And keeping the area clean - salt water can help too.

If it persists get the doctor to prescribe some Naseptin.

From experience, once you've had one, it will keep coming back.

Theunamedcat · 01/02/2021 11:11

I would be tempted to just flick the head off to let it drain

GeidiPrimes · 01/02/2021 11:22

Don't try to squeeze it - the cartilage and whatnot make it more likely to squish under the skin, spreading the infection. I had to get antibiotics and now have "chronic nosepicker" on my notes Blush

Tweezer and pull hair out of it is there is one. Otherwise pick off the skin. Very satisfying.
