How have you celebrated your DC’s birthdays in lockdown?

My DD’s 7th birthday is in a few weeks. I’m struggling for ideas to make the day still feel special for her with it just being the two of us at home

Dd1 turned 9 in the last lockdown. We did a zoom party with friends and some silly things at home to mark the day - set up a Harry Potter escape room in the spare room for her and her sister, and made a funfair in the garden.

Dd2 is turning 8 next weekend. We're doing another zoom party (but have an entertainer this time as I hated running this myself) and are planning an indoor beach party as we have a bunch of inflatable palm trees in the loft from a party a few year ago (we're going to bring a paddling pool and sand tray into the dining room and make a "beach spa" with homemade face masks and a bowl of bubbly water to soak feet). Were also planning a "game show" challenge which will be kids vs dad with silly games like giant hungry hungry hippos.

For my daughters birthday I hired a bouncy castle for her and we did a treasure hunt to find her presents!

DD was 9ast week. We agreed only a little bit of homeschooling, didn't have to get dressed all day, and mostly just played computer games Grin She was happy with that! Spent more on presents than we would, but it was less than a party obvs. We had takeaway afternoon tea for lunch, her choice of dinner, and a Zoom call with some friends in the afternoon.

I was worried about a lockdown birthday but she seemed to love it!

DS turned ten a week or so after the first lockdown was announced (and is set to turn 11 under this one).
I ordered lots of decorations - bunting, balloons, etc - and decorated the house while he was in bed
We had pancakes for breakfast
I bought more small presents than I would normally have done so he had lots to open. Including a massive box of sweets, which I wouldn’t normally.
We had party food for lunch and played games including the chocolate game and treasure hunt
Had a birthday cake
One of his friends dropped off a present and we waved
For dinner we had his choice of meal, can’t remember what, probably fajitas!
We watched a film of his choice

DS has a birthday this week. I have allowed him to choose all the food that day (ie, we will be eating junk food all day), am baking a cake, and will do a wall collage of photos oh him from each year. Presents will be principally cash.
