'Don't be a bystander in your own life'

.... someone just wrote this in response to an OP on another thread and this has hit me like a ton of bricks.

I have been anxious and dissatisfied for a long time.

I want to stop being a bystander in my own life.

For me it means I need to change my job. I hate it. I also need to stop watching tv so much and surfing the net as a hobby.

I want to thank the poster who said it. It's struck deep.

Yes. It's very easy to get blown along by life...with no direction...just letting things happen to you rather than taking the reins yourself.

I hear you, op, I used to feel that the theme tune of my life was "driftwood".
Happy taking-the-reins! "You're the driver, not the passenger in life"

Thanks both. I appreciate you replying.

I am going to spend some time this week really thinking about the changes I need to make to my life.

A lot of us probably have been at some stage. In a way, many of us are currently.

The idea that we have full of control over our lives is a myth. We are all at the mercy of circumstances, those around us, and unexpected events. The past year is a good example of this.

It is good to be proactive however.
