What do you buy to cheer yourself up/treat yourself?

Not necessarily expensive. Am, like many, feeling a bit down in the dumps at the moment. Trying to lose weight so where I would usually go with chocolate or takeaways that is out. Obviously a bit of pampering with a haircut or nails is also out. What’s your favourite non-food pick-me-up? I think I’ve defaulted to food for so long I’ve forgotten what else is out there!

Ordered myself some more Clinique 72 hour moisture surge yesterday, and a few other Clinique bits That's my little treat to myself.

WorriedMillie · 31/01/2021 20:40

I’ve recently bought myself nice Tea bags (Joe’s Tea Company, Earl grey) to make work Zoom calls more bearable
And some nice bubble bath from Fikkerts

hiredandsqueak · 31/01/2021 20:42

Flowers, even a couple of quid spent on a bunch of daffodils cheers me up. I tend to order a bunch of something with my online shop, I see it as a reward when I've put it all away.

Serena1977 · 31/01/2021 20:46

Long bath with nice products and flowers.

wonderstuff · 31/01/2021 20:46

Painting my nails generally picks me up, haven't done it in ages!
Reading a book, I find some sort of craft can make me feel better, crochet or embroidery, I rarely finish anything though!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 31/01/2021 20:48

A nice smelling sugar scrub, running gear, clothes in general to be honest :)

MotherWol · 31/01/2021 20:51

Plants. Far too many houseplants! You can buy really cute plants for not a lot of money, M&S have very cute mini plants in ceramic pots at the moment and they brighten up the house.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 31/01/2021 20:51

At the moment? Pyjamas!

I've just signed up for a stationery subscription box. The first one had some lovely postcards which made me smile and I like having something (albeit small) to look forward to each month.

KeyboardWorriers · 31/01/2021 21:01

Books (and I love my Reposed subscription)

Bath salts /bubble bath

Face masks and space masks

Jewellery

Flowers

A card to send to a friend or relative

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 31/01/2021 21:04

@wonderstuff I have bags of half finished projects Grin I should really dig them out!

Flowers is a good shout, I have space above my wfh desk and it would be something nice to look at. And love the sound of a stationery box.

All great ideas, thank you. I may have to purchase that loungewear I was eyeing up the other week.

I'm out of work & feeling down at the mo but I found a £50 John Lewis gift card that needed using so I ordered a sheepskin rug for the sitting room, and a designers guild cushion.

It worked, cheered me up. Smile

Echobelly · 31/01/2021 21:33

Lipstick, nice bath or skin care.

Under usual circumstances, a massage and I'd just got to the point where I could probably afford one every month when this all kicked off!
