First we had that post asking for people’s experiences of suffering during the AIDS pandemic. And 4 days later we have an article in at least one paper about exactly that.

So bored of lazy journos flooding this site.

Isn't it more likely to be because of It's A Sin?

StarryStrawberry · 31/01/2021 09:39

I think it's because It's a Sin is a big show atm.

The interviews in this article seem to be more in depth (and with named subjects).

HyggeTygge · 31/01/2021 09:45

You didn't read the bit in the article where it said "User1698532 revealed that she wasn't bothered by it at the time as she was only 3 and was more concerned with cutted-up pear." ?

Definitely lazy journos!

Interesting piece though, so thanks for the link.

"But I think we wouldn’t have gay marriage now if it hadn’t been for Aids, because it showed first of all that we were real people and suffering."

I'd not heard this viewpoint before. I wonder if it did play an important part? I'm only 2 eps in to It's A Sin. You forget how hard it was to find information before the internet!

I can't imagine any of the people who were interviewed are Mumsnetters tbh Hmm so I doubt the journo found them by posting here. It's not the first place I'd look for stories of people personally affected by the AIDS pandemic in the 80s (absolutely not saying there aren't such people on MN but it's definitely a different demographic on the whole).
