Diet idea.... Could I just halve the portion?

OK bear with me....
I have put on nearly 2 stone since this whole lockdown thing. I NEED to loose weight, and fast.
Absolutely nothing fits me except pj's and tracksuit bottoms. I'm pleased I'm working from home because I would have nothing to wear!
I've done IF before with success, but being at home is really stopping me from being able to fast or diet as the kids and DH all eat too and I have no self control.
So I though, why don't I just eat half of everything at every meal?
So half a sugar in my coffee, one slice of toast instead of 2 for breakie, half a sarnie....
What do you think?
Could this work? Will I loose weight?
I think I could stick at this as ill still be eating just less???

You aren’t alone! Yes to only pjs and track pants fitting! Yes to two stone! Yes to evenings being a weak point and not being able to stop once I start. Instead of counting calories I’m trying an app where you photograph what you eat. Cause with calories soon as I’ve eaten the last one all I want to do is eat...then once I’m “over” I think in for a penny in for a pound and go crazy. So I only plan to be able to look at what I’ve eaten in a day and feel it is reasonable ie not ashamed! I like your idea of half the amount. Weighwatchers did that for a while and I lost heaps.

Smunz and OhDear same here ,once I start eating I have a lot of trouble stopping .And once I've eaten dinner I crave sweet stuff .And I eat great hunks of cheese Blush.

But ...thanks to this thread (thank you OhDear ) I'm feeling that it might be possible to take control .

Evenings will be a challenge .We need more tips .

@peridito I'm exactly the same. We have a new puppy and I stay up with him and my dh gets up early in tbe morning. I think if I was able to go to bed early to hide from the hunger it might help!!!

I find if I have a can of diet lemonade in the evenings and some fancy fruit it feels quite like treat. I also go for a stroll in the evening once DH is home and the kids are settling. It was daunting heading off into the dark at first but I really enjoy it now. I do a loop from my house for about 30-40 minutes. I feel much better for it instead of sitting on the sofa and eating crap.

I just tend to eat lunch and dinner because I’m the same, once I start eating I just feel ravenous all the time.
I eat lower carbs than I did years ago.
Eating literally half of what you already do sounds feasible as a start.

I’m the same (hence my name!) have gained a stone since before Christmas and was already fat! I’ve joined Slimming World and have lost 5Ibs in 2 weeks.
I love eating SO much and particularly at the moment, as it feels like one of the only pleasures we have! SW is working for me as I can eat the carby meals I want but add extra veg. Also I love cheese but have found using my allocated portion of that in the evening on ryvita makes me feel like I’m still ‘allowed’ it where as before I’d eat the whole block and then think ‘well might as we’ll have a chocolate bar now too...’
I’m only two weeks in but it has definitely stopped me binging on foods I shouldn’t be!
